It's cold here today ... again!!
I put the washing out, well some of it, and as fast as I was pegging it out the dark clouds were rolling in. So all the bitty bits that would take time to rescue have been put on the airer in front of the bedroom French windows, they can garner any heat they can find through the glass ... and I can relax slightly instead of jumping up from my desk checking the weather every two minutes.
I thought it was raining a few minutes ago, but it was Ginger lapping steadily away at the water bowl for almost five minutes. He's a neat drinker, unlike the dogs that lap, splutter and splash, and make puddles on the tiled floor.
I've been eating varied meals recently.
I'm trying to use up some of the little pots that I have in the freezer. Pots of dahl, pasta sauce, hummus, you name it and it's in a little pot stacked three high, and when you pull the freezer drawers out and they dip downwards, all my little towers of pots topple forward. I need to do lots of eating or have a repacking session instead of just pushing new purchases in and old things getting forgotten about.
I found a bag of these hidden in the depths of the bottom drawer the other day, well part of a bag it turned out there were ten little Spinach Bites left.
So lunch for two days was five on a sub roll with salad and mayo. Sorry for the bad lighting in this photo ... Summer is still not installed. 😁
Sue xx
Summer went from Suffolk from about midday yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThe heating switched itself on this morning - that means its as chilly as a winter morning.
I tried those spinach bites a while ago - OK - but needed something for a bit more oooomph! Your way of dishing them up looks better than how I tried them
Yes, my heating has clicked itself on a couple of times recently and it's set way down at 15 degrees, it just shows how chilly it's been in here. I have eaten the spinach bites with a salad dunked in mayo, but I found them much nicer used as mini-burgers on a roll like I did here.
DeleteCool here today and rain arrived altho the garden needs it, it was disappointing as we had planned to go to town, I hate going out in rain, so a day in planned instead,
ReplyDeleteWe've had a lot of heavy rain overnight a couple of times this week, so my garden has been well watered. Now all the poor vegetables just need some sunshine before all the cucumber plants wither away completely.
DeleteI love those spinach bites-there are also some with sweet potato. It’s still drizzling here-clammy one minute and then hoodie and socks on the next. Catriona
ReplyDeleteI have seen the sweet potato ones, I might give them a try when I need to restock the freezer in the distant future. :-)
DeleteNice idea for the spinach bites.
ReplyDeleteI'm terribly random when it comes to using up what's in the freezer and I was even worse a few years ago when we had a chest freezer - stuff that made its way to the bottom would often languish there until the annual defrost when it would then have to be discarded 😩
Damp day here but not cold.
Alison in Wales x
Oh yes, chest freezers ... they swallow everything up and things work their way to the bottom not to be seen for years. No matter how hard I tried to keep ours organised when we lived in Wales it never really stayed that way for long.
Delete😂 Still rainy and cold?
ReplyDeleteYep, and today there is a cold wind too, although the washing is enjoying flapping away on the line now that the rain has stopped.
DeleteEurgh, it's managed to creep up to a miserable14 degrees here but it's very windy so feels colder. No wonder nothing is growing well on the plot or in the garden. Sometimes those random food items from the freezer turn into unexpected goodness! :-) xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's a very cold wind here today, I've just braved it to go and vote and now I'm about to peg some washing out on the line ... I might as well make use of the wind. My cucumbers are just about to give up I think, it's been far too cold for them this year. I'm even considering not growing vegetables in the future.
DeleteI love the cooler weather - I feel ill when it's really hot! We're working on emptying one of our freezers which is making some really odd meals : - ) Fiona x
ReplyDeleteYes, I can't cope with the heat at all, but I do like a bit of warmth in what should be summer, then I can chose to sit out when it's reasonable or hide indoors in the cool when it gets too hot.
DeleteI'll send you some of our warm weather! It's 94F (34.4C) over here. :) Quite comfortable for me with the ceiling fan on.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, that would be far too warm for me. We had similar temperatures the years we lived in the South of England and I just couldn't stay outside at all, even in the shade.
DeleteI wish someone would get summer installed. I am missing it.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to have a bit of difference between the seasons again wouldn't it, things are definitely changing climate-wise.
DeleteAs a child we lived overseas for years because of my father’s job . My older siblings used to talk about how much they missed the seasons ( we were in South East Asia , as we were either hot or hot and wet ). The weather patterns aren’t what they used to be - and as I get older I worry about what problems our grandchildren will be left to deal with x
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly that. Although the seasons would mix slightly with late frosts or 'Indian Summers' we did used to have distinct seasons didn't we.
DeleteLeft Scotland to get some sunshine and we are in Turkey for two weeks and it has been forty degrees, Mother Nature needs a good talking to. 😃😢
ReplyDeleteHaha, she does ... but she won't listen, especially when we don't treat our world with the care it deserves. From Scotland to forty degrees must have been a bit of a shock to your system!! 😳
