Sometimes Facebook Memories throws up a lovely blast from the past and gets you really thinking about everything you have done over the years.
This is a scene from September 2012 in Chicken World, from when we lived on our smallholding in Berkshire. Seemingly it was moving day for the birds. We used to move them up the Near Paddock by a quarter every couple of months to give the grass time to recover and give them other areas to play in. It usually went well. π
The full story of moving day is on my blog HERE.
One of the geese ... it could be Harry. Larry or Mo, I can't tell them apart any more!!
Caldwell the Second, the ruler of the roost.
And finally Alan doing one of his favourite jobs, processing apples for apple juice and cider.
It's nice to have a look backwards every now and then and see all that we got up too. One day I might even read through my old blog chronologically and have a real trip down memory lane.
Sue xx
I do read you small life blog from the very beginning entertaining to say the least, thank you (Sandy mid wales)
ReplyDeleteThat's nice. I'm glad you enjoy it. π These photos were all on my original 'Our New Life in the Country ' blog.
DeleteI think I remember that top photo. I really enjoyed your small holding posts. xx
ReplyDeleteI used to enjoy writing them. Coming in after hours of work and sitting at the computer with a coffee was wonderful. π
DeleteIt's nice to look back and see what was going on back then, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteIt really is, it makes you realise what you've achieved over the years. π
DeleteFacebook memories is one of the better things about Facebook isn't it?
ReplyDeleteYour fowl look as though they were very well looked after. Such cute hen houses.
Alison in Wales x
I agree, sadly Facebook is just turning into another stream of adverts these days.
DeleteThey were the best henhouses ever. We tried another design when we first moved to Wales, but soon reverted back to these. The Goose Hoose, as it was known, was all my design and built by Alan when the geese were too big to sleep with their Mum (who was a hen) in the Eglu. π
I remember the top photo and I like the one with Alan making cider. Retirement beckons and that’s the best job ever-you’ll never know how you had time to work. Catriona
ReplyDeleteHe loved grinding up all our apples, nothing was safe. π
DeleteWe are winding down to retirement.
One big contract before Christmas and then one slightly smaller one after ... and then π€ that's it π
I hate all the ads on Facebook but it does throw up some lovely memories I’ve hopped back to ‘moving day’ it was dated 2012! I’ve been reading your blogs since just before you moved to Wales, I can’t believe it was that long ago..
ReplyDeleteIt seems a lifetime ago doesn't it. Me and Alan seemed to have crammed in a lot of places and living in our 20 years together. ❤️
DeleteHappy memories❤️ Gee I can't remember how long I've been a following you, it only seems like yesterdayπ I do remember reading Lavender Blue which I'm seem to remember you deleted. How exciting "winding down to retirement" π
ReplyDeleteWell Lavender's Blue was a shop blog I wrote in 2008 ... so, a long time, poor you. Do I get repetitive? ππ
DeleteYou never get repetitive π You and Alan have done so much over the past 20 years ❤️
Delete❤️xx
DeleteThinking of you and your mum. I hope everything is ok because I know from experience how heart wrenching this kind of experience can be. Sending hugs x
ReplyDeleteAngie x
It's tough, but we're coping. Thanks for your concern. ❤️xx
DeleteMemories are wonderful to revisit.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
They really are. π
