Quite a few of our blogging circle are mentioning some of their preparations for Christmas, so I thought I would show you mine.
Sadly it's not me that is prepared really, but I have taken the pressure off Alan. As soon as I saw the Lucy Almey Bird calendar I knew that was the calendar for me for 2025. I ordered it and told Alan what 'he' had bought me, and he gave me the money.
I packed them away in this drawer.
As you can see my eating my way through the contents of my store cupboard while I try and live on just £100 a month for food has gone very well, all the other drawers are now empty. In fact I could most likely very easily fit my new gifts into the main food cupboard.
Now I have to listen out for what Alan would like for Christmas, he always says 'nothing, I don't need anything', so I have to listen and take note when he mentions things.

I think you are very noble eating the biscuits before Christmas. Positively heroic!🤣
ReplyDeleteI know ... I'm such a trooper. 😄
DeleteWhat a good woman you are-sorting out your Christmas gifts😂Love the calendar! Catriona
ReplyDeleteHe hates the pressure of what to get, so problem solved for this year. 🙂
DeleteBoth excellent presents, well done Alan! LOL!!! :-) xxx
ReplyDeleteHe's a good'un ... when I give him a shove in the right direction. 😄
DeleteI remember how delighted you were when you treated yourself to the Lucy Almey Bird pictures, not surprised you wanted the calendar.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely pressie from Alan/Ella.
I'm really pleased with it, and of course it's something I can't use until after Christmas. Now the biscuits are a different matter entirely ... 😄
DeleteSometimes I think a bit of advance Christmas planning is a very positive thing. Lovely gifts and they are what you want so no waste, all good.
ReplyDeleteAlison in Wales x
I love that it's things I need, I really don't want presents for presents sake. I'm past all that now. 🙂
DeleteSounds like you'll be enjoying Christmas before, during, and after! Good planning on your part and well done Alan! Just today, my daughter asked me what I want for Christmas and I told her to at least wait until after my birthday! LOL.
ReplyDeleteI hate the pressure to think of something when people ask. My mind used to go blank. Now we mostly have a no-present rule that suits everyone and takes the pressure off. Christmas for us is now a relaxing few days with tasty nibbles and time to put our feet up.
DeleteWhat excellent presents for yourself - you are good, helping point Alan in the right direction! I'm a nuisance having a birthday 19 days before Xmas, I've told Jon to forget pressies, lets just book a cheeky few days away instead! xxx
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a really good idea for you. 😀 I solved Alan's birthday present idea last year with a couple of nights away from home ... he's a nuisance too, with a birthday right at the start of January. 😄
DeleteGorgeous calendar 😍
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely, and all the pictures are different from the ones I have framed. I could go framing mad, what a cheap way to have a huge Lucy Almey Bird collection ... I might have to buy a bigger house so that I have more wall space though!! :-)
DeleteSuch great presents!
ReplyDeleteI know I'm very lucky. 😀
DeleteGosh thank you for steering me to the Lucy Almey Bird site again - I’ve ordered her calendar for myself and three more and that’s three Xmas presents beautifully sorted. Am always keen to pay a small creative than a generic high street so thanks again! Danette x
ReplyDeleteYes, it's nice to suport small businesses and talented artists directly isn't it. They will make a lovely Christmas present, lucky recipients. 😀🎄
