I was pegging some washing on the line yesterday, and as I did it in my usual neat fashion with certain pegs used for certain things ... some don't leave marks on clothes, some hold fine things on sturdily and some I just like the best ... I realised that I had favourites in lots of my day to day things.
Here are my favourite pegs, with my favourite spatula, my favourite chopping knife and my favourite chopping board. The little cat is 'Pepper' my favourite and only salt cellar. He's called Pepper because he's identical to one of the cats I first had when I met Alan, strangely enough the other one was called Ginger, she was a real beauty with a mind of her own. I accidently broke the Pepper that held pepper. 😄
I almost forgot my favourite teaspoons.
I took these from my Mum's cutlery drawer when I left home to get married at 18, they were the only ones we had for a long time. They came with me once again when I divorced my first husband, he got all the furniture and I got my son, my books, a steamer and my teaspoons.
It's funny what comes to mind when you are pegging out your smalls isn't it. 😄
What are your favourite things?
Sue xx
Oh how this resonated with me. I too have different pegs for different things, including favourite pegs for if I run out of freezer clips!
ReplyDeleteOther favourites include my small Lakeland palette knife which gets used for spreading cream and icing but also lifting biscuits off baking trays. A particular mug for morning tea and a different one with comic cat faces on for coffee...........numerous kitchen items that were Mum's , using them makes me feel close to her even though she died over 2 years ago. I could carry on but it might get boring 😀

Haha, yes ... I'm sure my list could get longer if I let it, I'll no doubt notice lots more things in the coming days now that I've thought about it. I too have some more of this style of peg that I use instead of freezer clips, all green ones. :-)
DeleteMy paring knife, cannot cut any fruit or veg with this as it is so comfortable in my hand. Coffee in the morning must be in my mug decorated with a large red rose. Tea in a different one, decorated with garden theme things, plant pot, trowel, birds and plants.
DeleteI am so happy that I am not the only one with these sort of little foibles. :-)
DeleteI'm happy to learn I'm not the only one with different cups for different times of the day!
ReplyDeleteThe huge Smarties mug first thing for that vat of tea; the dainty little blue patterned cup for mid morning coffee.
I own four cups that I will use for coffee (although two are definite favourites), and two cups that I will use for soup ... they must never be mixed up. :-)
DeleteThat same spatula, my OXO potato peeler, my stumpy teapot, the little cast iron skillet, my Dad's napkin ring...
ReplyDeleteIt's a handy little spatula isn't it. :-)
DeleteLike most people, I have a favourite mug for my morning coffee.
ReplyDeleteBut I actually have a favourite elastic hair tie. With two twists, it has the perfect tightness to hold my hair all day :)
There's quite a lot of us with favourite mugs isn't there. A hair elastic that does it's job perfectly just starts the day on the right footing doesn't it. 😀
DeleteYou do make me laugh - different pegs for different clothes here too!
ReplyDeleteFavourites which I would not be without are silicone utensils by Zeal, and a couple of lovely Robert Welch knives which fit my hand as if they had been made for me.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one rummaging through the peg basket. 😄
DeleteA knife that just feels 'right' is important isn't it.
China mug for tea and pottery for coffee. Yes to the varied clothes pegs and definitely different favourite knives for prepping different foods. Catriona
ReplyDeleteWe are all so similar ... phew!! 😄
DeleteMy Sabatier kitchen knives, a pair of Sfaffordshire china dogs, my potato peeler, and my wooden spoon with a corner that makes it so easy to get into corners. Fiona x
ReplyDeleteA good collection. 😀
DeleteI'm worried about the favourite pegs thing - life's too short!!
ReplyDeleteHaha ... not if it saves you having to go and knock on your neighbours door because you've used the soft-grip pegs on your knickers and they've blown onto his greenhouse roof!! 😄😂
DeleteI have my favorite tea cups that I use every day and, yes, I have a favorite teaspoon, too!
ReplyDeleteIt seems there's a lot of us. 😀 Now I'm wondering if there are many people that don't mind what utensil or what cup etc they use, I know Alan's not bothered at all.
DeleteGreat post😉 Too many favourite items to mention😱
ReplyDeleteNo worries, keep your favourite things around you. ❤️
DeleteI have loads and quite a lot of them have connections with Mum and Dad. It is lovely to remember them when I use the utensil. They are always on top and near the front. xx
ReplyDeleteFamily connections are lovely aren't they. I have two hammers, one from each of my grans houses. I think of them every time I use them, I have other things, but somehow the hammers are special.
DeleteMy bread knife which I also use to peel potatoes. It comes on holiday with me (not abroad, obviously)!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a skill, peeling potatoes with a bread knife!! 😃
