The Small Bookcase

I was putting away my latest book acquisition yesterday (why oh why oh why, has our Booths got a charity book table with all books being just £1, don't they know I can resist everything but temptation?)  when I realised that for now ... until I make my models and perhaps free up a bit of space ... I have reached book capacity in my new bookcase.

This was my Christmas present to myself this year.  A beautiful Ercol glass doored bookcase that matches my sideboard perfectly.  As soon as I saw it I knew the piles of books stacked around the lodge would fit in perfectly and tidy the place up a bit.  I had sworn to myself no more furniture, but you can always squeeze in a little bookcase can't you.  😁

So for all those of you who are like me and love to peruse someone else's book shelves here are the books that I have on my small bookcase ... and I thought while I was doing this I would count them for posterity.

Top Shelf - 23 books

Middle Shelf - 17 books

Bottom Shelf - 37
(not including my year long Challenge diary)

Total books on the Small Bookcase = 77

And here are my books all safely behind the glass doors.

I don't always keep toilet rolls stacked on top, or a cleaner on the floor next to the bookcase, but my toilet seat broke last week and we had to dismantle the boxing around the toilet to be able to access the fixings to take off the old one and attach the new one.  Modern bathroom design leaves a lot to be desired, we didn't used to have to turn off the water and pull out the toilet to do this did we!!  Anyway it is all fixed now, but we had to leave the top of the boxing off where these things usually stand while the inside dried out.  Oh and by the way, it is the royal 'we' ... Alan did the work. 💖

Perhaps I'll do the same with the Big Bookcase next week ... photograph and count the books that is, not stack toilet rolls on top of them.  😄

  1. We succumbed last year and bought a new bookcase.Full height, 7 shelves. But one shelf is solely for library books, and one for "discards" which will go to the Grand Parish Church Book Sale in May. Please explain what "Creative Bookends" box is about!

    1. Having a shelf for library books and discards is a great idea.

The two boxes of 3D bookends are 'build it yourself' little scenes that are illuminated and sit between books. They and the 'Friends' Lego Central Perk were my Christmas presents off Alan this year.

  4. Being very good here and not looking too closely at your books - just in case I spot something I don't know and get tempted as I've enough here already!

    1. Haha, I understand completely, I'm just the same. 😁 It's time you shared your shelves again and had a count. It would be interesting to see how many books you have left after all your Ziffit sales ... or have new acquisitions kept the numbers similar?

    1. I do love a neat bookcase. ❤️ Having this new one took pressure off the big bookcase which was getting ridiculously piled up in December.

    1. It would be a sad world without books. I am always sad when I go into a home that is completely devoid of books. There's nothing better than seeing someone else's books all lined or stacked up waiting to be read ... or just admired.

    1. Happily it also holds all my taller books too, they could never stand up on my other shelves. 🙂
