The work is complete, I'm clocking off from the day job for Christmas ... well I did last night really. A good thing is, that unless we have revisions to do I will not be clocking on again in the New Year, as all the work left to complete the contracts we have, are solely in Alan's domain.
Woohoo, it's time to celebrate, I have to admit I also did that last night. π
When we had our visitors the other day we all went to the garden centre for breakfast, they had to leave mid afternoon to get back to Scotland so a lunch would have sat far too heavy on a long drive, but breakfast and then coffee and cake at ours, before they left was just perfect.
After we had eaten our various choices of breakfast and chatted over coffees we browsed the shelves of our lovely local garden centre. My sister-in-law fell in love with a beautiful wool sweater, so that solved her fiancΓ©'s Christmas gift buying problem and I just had to have the little felted mouse holding a lollipop and the little ceramic light-up house.
I only usually buy myself one little addition to the Christmas decorations each year, but this year I have really splashed out ... and bought three. π
Sue xx π
Does that mean that next year you might have finished work....forever????
ReplyDeleteThe only work I will have left to do, will be to help with the complicated business of closing company down. π Retiring after early will be brilliant, even without a pension. π
DeleteYour decorations are gorgeous, Sue, and it's lovely to catch up with family isn't it.
ReplyDeleteRe retirement : every 5 minutes it seems, Gray comes out with "I'm unemployed now!" and I keep saying "you're RETIRED! there is a difference" He can't get used to the thought of not working π Enjoy Christmas and the wind down π I do hope you can see your mum soon

There is a huge difference between unemployment and retirement, the main thing being that Graham has paid into his pension pot via his National Insurance contributions all his life, and now it's time to start pulling that money back for yourselves and relaxing together. Whenever Alan has a little wobble, I just remind him that I will find lots of things for him to do once he has the time.
DeleteFingers crossed that we will be able to see Mum by Christmas day. :-)
Exactly, Sue, but he seems to be a loss with how to fill his weekends now. I offered to write him a 'to do' list but he just puts his head in his hands...lol... ;) Alan will find things a bit strange at first I daresay.
DeleteFingers firmly crossed for Christmas visiting x
I think Alan is going to be a nightmare. π
DeleteLovely decorations and It must feel good to have completed your last official day at work. You should have had your pension by now and it makes me so angry that the entitlement age keeps rising. Hope you can see your Mum soon. Catriona
ReplyDeleteMy sons now have their fingers firmly crossed that their projected retirement ages stay as they are.
DeleteI buy one special decoration a year too - but this year it was three after we spotted a little wooden tree decoration with the name Rosie on it! and I'd already bought two special decorations which took my eye. Love your wee Lollipop Mouse and that pretty nightlight.
ReplyDeleteSnap, three each it must be a good year. I just couldn't resist that mouse. π
DeleteI have been tempted with those lovely ceramic houses this year - but actually managed to resist, which is quite unusual for me :-} Your beautiful red truck? I would have snaffled that in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteI got the truck for £4 from a charity shop a few years ago, I loved it the minute I saw it.
DeleteCongratulations on your early retirement! Closing down a business sounds rather complicated to me, but, I'm sure you will enjoy retirement.
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas decorations are beautiful and I really like that lit up house. :)
As it's a limited company it is quite complicated, but hopefully if we follow all the right steps it should be manageable with help from our accountants. π
