Blogmas Day Twelve - Outdoors, Indoors and Poached Eggs

Garstang - looking down the High Street by Michael Coleran

It's wonderful on the High Street at this time of year.  The lights twinkle and the old buildings lend themselves beautifully to the Christmas period ... and it just feels so magical.

Cobblers is one of our favourite cafes, once again they have decorated the building wonderfully, as they always do.  This photo is also by Michael Coleran, he's one of our towns photographers.  He's out there with his cameras snapping all the special events and festivals, and I've shared it and the others here with his permission.

Another view of the main Christmas tree from a different angle and showing off our new neighbours shop to full advantage.  There is another town Christmas tree this year in Cherastanc Square, but it is a regimented conical affair and not really to my taste, although saying that it is better than the huge white polar bear that was there last year, which turned decidedly grubby by Christmas Day.

Indoors the decorations are much smaller, they are virtually all old favourites and all are full of special memories.

They even make my current favourite breakfast of poached eggs on toast feel a bit more festive.  😁

  1. The decorations and lights are lovely, both outside in your town and inside your home. I am still trying to decorate my tree!

  4. It looks so pretty unlike our town's Xmas lights which were voted Worst in Britain by the Telegraph last year! xxx

  5. The town looks wonderful, especially cobblers. I love your Christmas display, Sue, the 'bauble' plate is so unusual I've never seen anything like it before. Beautiful.....

  6. Garstang looks so pretty. Your poached eggs look good too - I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes hard yolks :-)

    1. Oh yes, I really don't like a 'perfect' poached egg. These were perhaps cooked for 5 seconds too long in the microwave, but still very tasty.

  7. The decorated town does look lovely - we must go and have a look at ours in the dark when the lights are all on (the bitterly cold weather puts me off!). Your decorations are so nice. I love poached eggs (with runny yolks), they're my favourite way to eat eggs. xx

    1. It looks beautiful doesn't it, and all the little weinds and alleyways are equally decorated, which makes walking round town once dusk falls quite magical.

  9. Your town looks so cosy with all the Christmas lights in place and I love all the bits and pieces in your Christmas display. Felled by a cough and cold hence missing some days commenting. Catriona

  10. Beautiful festive Garstang ❤️ Gorgeous decorations, especially the bauble plate. My favourite is egg on toast with runny yokes 🍳 I've been under the weather this week so it's a mad panic to decorate as we are having our neighbours over for dinner on Saturday night 😔

    1. I can cope with a but of runny yolk on a fried egg, as long as the white is really well cooked. 😀

Alan hasn't put any of his decorations up yet, and we have visitors on Sunday ... so you are not alone. 😬

    1. My secret is simply silicone egg poachers and 1 minute in the microwave ... it was a game changer. No more soggy eggs for me.😃
