Up to Date ... for a Little While

I went through the freezer drawers last week and carefully reorganised everything, putting like with like and checking exactly what I had ... there was a lot of food.

There always is isn't there, those innocent little drawers are filled to within an inch of their lives, like the best game of Tetris I have ever played ... well I was the Tetris queen when Jason had his Gameboy all those many years ago. 😄

I obviously had all the foods that I have bought or made, and there was already some of the food that we picked up from Mum's and shared between us.

I made an inventory, writing down everything that I now had and which drawer things were in.

I wrote out a few meal suggestions in lieu of a proper menu plan making the best use of some of the things that I had.  Then I ordered the Waitrose food last week, we went to Mum's again and turned off the freezer bringing the last few bits home with us.

Yep, you've guessed everything was squeezed into any available gap the minute we got home so it wouldn't thaw out and now my list, although still quite helpful is not telling the whole story.

I think the first two weeks of December had better be the time for me to eat from the freezer in a bid to make some space and also save myself some money to try and help me keep on budget.  I am determined not to spend more than the cash and the Nectar points that I have left, even though the Christmas adverts are telling us we have to buy, buy. buy.

I don't, don't, don't ...  I want to end 2024 in the black as far as this year long Challenge is concerned.  😀

And talking of Challenges, are there any bloggers up for the Challenge of doing Blogmas this December?  Just one post everyday from the 1st to the 24th or 25th whichever suits how you do Christmas,  it can be about anything ... Christmas related or not.

  I have decided that I am.  🎄

  1. Well done on doing Blogmas! I try to do a FB post each day as I don’t have a blog! Hair cut first thing this morning so now off to mend a padded jacket for DH-goodness knows how he managed to tear it but it’s going to be a beggar to fix! Catriona

    1. I used to do a lot more on Facebook but I'm really falling out with it now. It's just so full of adverts AI generated posts and people stealing other peoples posts that I remember from years ago just for the views and likes. I hope it stays good for you though, I'm only staying on it to see what my sons are up to and see the Memories pop up each day.

  2. I'm trying to post everyday anyway, partly because I enjoy reading other people's posts every day!

    1. I used to be more of a daily blogger, but this past year it has been every two days usually, occasionally even longer. It's just been because of sheer pressure of work and life in general. I'm going to make an effort for December though, we have just one big contract to get out of the way.

    3. You might be interested in Substack. It's free, people can subscribe, and it will keep the history and photos you publish ... at least now, anyways. And no ads! - Madelyne (deleted first comment above as I forgot to add my name before)

  4. I'll be posting everyday through December (hopefully) although please can I call it Advent 2024. It will be a Christmas or winter related as usual.

    1. Of course you can call it Advent, I just thought I would go old-school bloggy as I'm fed up with all the 'Vlogmasses'.

    2. Ah I get it, I'd not come across any Vlogmasses - I'll avoid them like avoiding the news!

    3. I don't mind some of them but others seem to be more advertising and 'sponsored' vlogs.

  5. I can't promise to post every day, sorry. That's a bit defeatist actually....so I might give it a try! Sooze

  7. I am considering doing blogmas, but am slightly worried that I might miss a day or two..... What a great deal of frozen delights you have to use up. Should really help you with Decembers budget numbers.

    God bless.

    1. It's not the end of the world if you miss a few days, gosh we don't want any additional pressure at this time of the year. 🙂

    1. Have you thought of starting a new one? I think that's what I would do. In the meantime, I look forward to your comments. ❤️

  9. That's too funny - you get everything in your freezer nicely organized and listed and then, having to find room for all the extra food! Happens to me, too. :)
I am looking forward to your Blogmas posts. I try to post daily, but, sometimes, I skip a day or two!

    1. If I'd just waited a couple of days it would have all been listed, mind you without the tidy up the new stuff wouldn't have fitted in. 😄

  10. Haha no new clothes . Only second hand. The amount I have sold new with tags to work was shocking ! Learning to live with my autism and ADHD. I am finding it hard. I always knew there was something wrong and I wasn’t the naughty lazy child . And keep looking for food bargains!!

  11. I take my hat off to your organisational skills, Sue! I feel like i'm winning at life when I find the raspberries I froze at the first look!
I rarely watch the commencial channels so I'm oblivious to adverts. Jon was watching some nonsense on ITV the other day and was outraged that M&S had used one of his favourite ever tracks on their Xmas Ad (he loves Xmas as much as I do!) xxx

    1. My organisation skills are not perfect ... I found the nut roast thingy that I bought for LAST Christmas tucked away in the bottom drawer. 😄

I now record virtually all programmes from commercial channels so I can "izzy whizzy' through the adverts I do like a soppy Christmas advert though, so I do watch them sometimes. 🎄

  12. Well, I am SO IMPRESSED Sue, I'm the world's worst at keeping track of what's in the freezer. I make a list, even attach it to the front of the freezer, and darn it, "someone" messes it all up, and I forget to cross things ff, and in no time at all, it's a mess again, and I can't think when something got used but not crossed off!.

    1. Don't be too impressed, I'm exactly the same. It starts off well and then fizzles out ... every time. 😄
