Food Review - Viv Era,Spinach Fillet

I bought this pack of Viv Era Spinach Fillets last week and had one at a time with a meal over a couple of days.

What can I say about them ... well they are very tasty, very rich tasting as you would expect something made from spinach and cheese to be, and very satisfying.  They also cook in just eight minutes in the air fryer.

I kept it simple and both times served them just like this, although the first time I had a big dollop of mayonnaise as well ... everything is good with mayo in my opinion. 😁

I won't be buying them regularly, but it's nice to know that they are good, and if I was looking for a tasty addition to a plate I would have no qualms in picking them up again.

  1. This is a bit too much UPF for me, I think.

    1. Yes, a very long list of ingredients many of which I don't have in my fridge or cupboard.

    2. Oh yes, they are definintely a UPF, but as a thing to have just every now and then in a healthy diet they are not too bad. Apart from a single slice of toasted bread alongside my homemade vegetable soup for lunch they were the only UPF that I ate that day.

  2. I've never had any of the Viv Era range but if it's that UP, I think I won't try that one. xx

    1. It's one of the few items of Viv Era range that I would eat, the rest try to replicate meat too much. At least these are 25% spinach.

  3. Ooh I shall keep a look out for these, thank you for the review. I really like the meat free alternatives which don’t try to taste like meat, if that makes sense?
I believe most things are absolutely fine for us in moderation, and that includes UPF’s.

Also, I’ve read your blogs for at least 10 years now, and I think this is the first time I’ve ever commented.

    Kia.

    1. Nice to have you here in the comments section. :-)

Yes, like you I don't really like any of the burgers, steaks or chicken fillets that try to replicate meat that much. As well as not liking the taste of meat I really don't like the texture in my mouth. I can just about cope with Quorn products but none of the Beyond ones.

And yes, I think most things are fine in moderation. I'm trying to aim for no more than 20% of my diet being UPF but I'm being sensible and not wasting anything so a lot of former purchases are in a long queue waiting to make it onto my plate. :-)

  4. My only dislike of ready mades like this is that the crumb coating can be rather thick and stodgy - were these ok Sue? x

    1. I do like breadcrumbed things as long as they are quite lightly coated, and these were. 🙂

  7. I've just looked at their website, I bet Jon would love the shawarma kebab . I'm not really a fan of "dry" foods like cutlets or burgers, I like juicy things like curries & chillies. xxx

    1. I know what you mean, these were great with a dollop of mayo. But I think this is where we differ, I like dryer things, even my curries are eaten with a higher rice to curry ratio.🙂

    2. Jon's just like you, he almost always has a shashlik when we go for an Indian and loves anything served with chips and a huge doorstep of bread & butter! xxx
