The garden has morphed from it's bright vibrant colours of a few weeks ago into it's whites, yellows and lavender hues of July.
It makes me happy that the colours settle down and always look so good together. It's strange that colours we mix can sometimes clash, but when Mother nature does her thing all the colours magically 'go' together and always, always, always look beautiful.
As small as my garden space now is, we are both eating well from it at the moment. There has been no evening when there have been no tomatoes or lettuce leaves that are ready for picking, or half day when there's not been a courgette waiting in the wings. In fact I have already slipped up once and now have a decent sized 'marrow' living in the fridge.
It's slightly ironic then that I found out last week that I have won a hundred pounds worth of Riverford Organics veg boxes, to be delivered to my door. I simply filled in a survey back in January for the Vegetarian Society, of which I am a lifetime member, and ticked the box for the competition. Out of over a thousand people that did just that I was one of the lucky six winners. π
Happily I have just checked after rereading the email, that there is no rush to use up my vouchers immediately.
Homegrown it is then while I still have the opportunity.

Those vouchers will come in handy during the months when the garden supplies dry up.
ReplyDeleteThey really will, and they will help with this years budgeting too. I was amazed when I got the phone call to tell me that I'd won, I've not won anything for ages ... but then I've not entered much either!!
DeleteWhat a lovely surprise - will be so handy for winter.
ReplyDeleteI seem to be eating courgette fritters every other day - mustn't complain. And now have two unexpected marrows for apricot and marrow jam.
I am now being overtaken by the courgettes. I am still working my way through the 'marrow' and the plant now has three more courgettes growing rapidly. One of which I can almost see expanding as I stand wondering what to make if I pick it.
DeleteWhat a great prize! And good that the vouchers have long expiry dates. Courgettes are dead sneaky at hiding and turning into marrows, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteThey are far too sneaky, I thought I had been checking at least once a day, but I obviously missed a check. It's going to be a brilliant prize for me to use up while I have no state pension payments.
DeleteWhat a great prize, and good that you can keep it till your own veg patch is less productive π₯π π₯π«π₯π«
ReplyDeleteIt should be a good way to morph into Autumn veggies. π
DeleteOoh lucky you! I live not far from Riverford and must pay the place a visit! I hope that you enjoy your prize when you eventually decide to claim it! Very wise to wait if you’re growing so much yourself. Have a happy week! π
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to choosing my veg boxes. I've never had one before. π
DeleteWow-that’s a lovely prize and you will make great use of it when the garden stops giving. Catriona
ReplyDeleteI was thrilled to hear I'd won. π
DeleteWell done you, how lovely what a fantastic prize,
ReplyDeleteBrilliant isn't it. I should do more competitions, I might be on a lucky streak. π
DeleteYour garden is so productive! My zucchini seeds didn't germinate this year! But, I have some other type of squash growing. I made zucchini chutney and zucchini bread when I had a surplus of zucchini (courgettes). What a lovely prize! It's good that you can wait to claim it, later, when the garden produce comes to an end.
ReplyDeleteIt's doing pretty good this year, and is quite prolific for the space I have. π
DeleteCongratulations on your win. Now that is a wonderful prize. No ripe tomatoes here yet, but we have been having some cukes from the garden.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you. I'm sad my cucumbers didn't grow this year. They must have been faulty seeds. π₯ ☹️
DeleteThe top pic is so pretty - really pleased that you have won such a useful prize.
