It's actually been rather nice waking up to daylight and occasional sunshine this past week. In fact yesterday morning I was quite disappointed when the sunshine didn't make an appearance, it seems she was kidding us into what Spring could be like without rain, before going back into hiding. 🌞
I think I jinxed it by washing a few of my more Summery tops in readiness ... sorry!!
I had a white sink reset day yesterday.
A bit of bleach in and under the bowl with the washing up cloth soaking in it, then a good wipe down of all the sinks surfaces and edges, then transfer the bleachy water from the big bowl into the middle section, put the cloth back in and then an hour later finally pull the plug out, wiping everywhere down again with now sparkly white bleachy cloth.
It's a good multi-use of bleach, something that is not the best for the environment but that does the job well when used sensibly. I learnt all this from when we had our septic tanks in various previous properties. Put too much bleach into a septic tank and you kill all the good bacteria, so plan ahead when you want to use bleach.
And my biggest tip of the day ...don't put a white sink in your kitchen if you eat a lot of turmeric containing curries and red pasta sauces. I've learnt this lesson now. 😄

DeleteSmiling about the white sink, but thinking I have never seen an orange one offered anywhere!! It reminded me of when we moved into Ynyswen and there was an olive green bathroom suite upstairs. When we replaced it with white, there was soon a regular turquoisey/green tidemark after a bath. In fact I have just seen a house in the next village offered for sale, with a huge old white cast iron bath with the biggest bottom of the bath tidemark \I've ever seen. Do they think it is a talking point or something?!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm glad that there aren't orange ones, it's Alan's favourite colour, it might have caused a bit of a disagreement. Stainless steel will do nicely. 😄

We moved into a house with a BLACK kitchen sink! Some sort of non glazed, stony composite material. In a hard water area. Needless to say, it was one of the first things to go!

DeleteHaha! Our first house back in 1970s had a white sink. It was an old 1890s 2up 2down terrace and barely modernised. At least we had a proper bathroom built on from the kitchen. Old Mrs C in her late 80s next door still had the outdoor toilet in the yard which was flushed when you emptied the sink. Her husband had converted it ti an indoor toilet by putting a roof over the gap between back door and toilet and a new door to the yard! Another house along the way still had original earth floors and only gas lighting. Our house and Mrs Cs are boutique airbnbs now.
ReplyDeleteI grew up with a white Belfast sink with just a cold tap. Luckily being glazed they were quite easy to keep clean. Unless of course you had hairline cracks in the glaze. 🫤
