It doesn't take many ingredients to make a very tasty and very satisfying Breakfast Wrap.
I was out early before the heat of the day ramped up yesterday ... I don't do heat at all, while I hide in the house, Alan basks in the garden like a snoozing sealion ... I was picking the four reddest tomatoes, one didn't make it as far as the house but the three that did were just about enough. I picked the two largest courgettes and used half of the smallest one.
Added to the homegrown pickings were a couple of slices of red onion, two beaten eggs, a handful of cheese and a selection of spices from my tin. In yesterdays case it was onion granules, garlic granules and cumin.
The veggies and spices were all sautéed together for five minutes, then the eggs were poured on top and the whole thing was topped with the wrap. After a few minutes I checked under the edges to see if the eggs had set nicely, they had so I put my plate over the 'omelette', tipped the pan over and then slid it back in wrap side down.
A few more minutes and the wrap had softened and warmed through nicely, then it was folded in half and tipped out onto the plate.
An absolutely delicious and healthy breakfast in around ten minutes.
It's funny because yesterday I was debating whether to buy a box of a Cheerio type cereal from Aldi, as the thought of cereal and ice-cold milk was very appealing. I'm glad now that I didn't as this was so much more satisfying.
What is your current favourite breakfast?
Sue xx
Leftover bread granola! But always croissants on Sunday
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely, tasty tradition. 😀
DeleteMuesli every day.
ReplyDeleteI used to have porridge every day, it went on for a long time. It's nice not to have to think about choices for at least one meal isn't it. 😀
DeleteI generally have brunch and it varies. Scrambled eggs are a favorite, though.
ReplyDeleteI used to always eat later, hopefully I can get back to that soon and have brunch instead. But for the last few months I have been waking up almost every day at 5.30am. So I guess my body thinks breakfast time is brunch time 🫤
DeleteDorset cereals muesli and milk heated for exactly 90 seconds in the microwave, and a small nespresso arpeggio coffee with hot milk! Even in summer ☀️
ReplyDeleteVery specific ... I love it. 😃
DeleteYour breakfast looks absolutely delicious. At the moment, with it being so hot I don't fancy eating, so I often have a small banana with a mug of tea, or sometimes ice cold yogurt with a few berries or tinned fruit chilled in the fridge. The days of morning porridge seem like a distant memory...lol.. :)
ReplyDeleteI had stewed homegrown rhubarb and ice cold yogurt this morning, it really hit the spot.
DeleteOh, roll on Winter and big bowls of steaming hot porridge. 😃
Shreddies and whole milk from the fridge/ winter with warm milk But now I really, really fancy your ommelette wrap . . . . .
ReplyDeleteGo for it one day, and see what you think. 😀
DeleteI have porridge with fruit and seeds almost every day, but in this hot weather I have enjoyed some of DH’s muesli. We have had lovely melon on offer at Asda and Aldi. I cut a thin, round slice into pieces, and the rest stands on a plate in the fridge.
ReplyDeleteThe wrap looks delicious. As we have eggs every day from the hens, I make a Spanish omelette with similar vegetables.
Yes, I often done this just as an omelette too. The added wrap means I can eat it easier while I'm reading, and makes it a bit more filling too. 🙂
DeleteOh! Suddenly I'm anonymous! and can't spell 'omelette' - Rambler/ Rosemary
ReplyDeleteHaha isn't Blogger fun!! I have a tendency to 'double m' omelette too. 😄
DeletePorridge, fruit and kefir no matter how hot the weather is. Your breakfast looked delicious. Catriona
ReplyDeleteA large mug of coffee, a large glass of orange juice & water (half and half), one slice of toast with cream cheese. This does me until lunch. Bizarrely if I add anything, I find myself getting hungry earlier. So I stick with this.
ReplyDeleteToast at the moment, but only because it's quick ( and a bit lazy!) I do love granola, but it can be a bit hard on the teeth. Love the look of the Wrap, all in one makes it so simple to prepare.
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
I love that breakfast wrap, it looks really yum. Sundays the Mr cooks wholemeal pancakes and we have blueberries, banana, nuts and a smidge of honey, my absolute fav.
ReplyDeleteYour wrap looks delicious. My breakfast today was a avocado toast with an egg. Keeps me full for a longer period of time. Usually, this meal changes from one day to the next, cottage cheese pancake, toast, peanut butter and banana. scrambled egg and toast. etc. always a small glass of juice which also varies and always coffee.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Team Alan, basking in the sunshine like a snoozing sealion!
ReplyDeleteThe omelette looks lovely, I'd not bother with the wrap. Fruit and yoghurt for me on non-swimming days, toast on a Sunday morning and whatever veggie brekfast thing I fancy at Spoons on the other days! xxx
Cottage cheese and peaches every work day.
ReplyDeletefruit, greek yoghurt and honey, my favourite, from julie x
ReplyDeleteI don't eat breakfast but I will try this out for lunch one day this week, I have an abundance of courgettes at the moment and my tomatoes are just starting to turn red :-)
ReplyDeleteLike you I have been trying to get things done early so that I can hide indoors when it gets too hot!
