On the Porch, Drinking Coffee

This came up on my feed the other day and it really got me thinking.

I think it's all about the time of your life that you are in isn't it.  It's also that some people need to be busy all the time, some people need to be seen to be busy all the time, there is a huge difference.

I was the former, then I was the latter, then I felt guilty for doing less, then the guilt stopped.

Now I would rather be on the porch drinking coffee.

Ooh ... should we build a porch on the bungalow? 😀

No, I think decking or a patio at the back would suffice.

  1. I wish I had read this when I was in my twenties! I guess we all learn the hard way. Thanks once again for posting these little nuggets of light bulb moments. June

    1. Yes, we all have to learn it for ourselves don't we, it's just the way of the world. It seems especially more so these days, where it can be seen as a good thing to be 'rushed off your feet'.

  2. Completely agree. I still do too much sometimes and it caught up with me just before Christmas. A cold floored me and it may me rest, read and catch up on some recorded tv programmes. I saved the saying today and I’ll make myself look at it when I feel I have taken on too much. Catriona

    1. Things can definitely knock us for six health wise if we push ourselves too hard can't they.

  3. Are you planning your garden there yet? Will you be growing more veg do you think?

    1. Haha ... that definitely made me laugh out loud. There will be no garden to even think of planning until after we move in, which will probably be nine months to a year from now. The 'garden' currently houses a soil mountain and a block mountain, with old slippery paths around the edge. The front garden houses piles of new blocks, bags of sand and cement and a skip.

  4. That's such a good insight.
A decent sized porch is high on my list of wantables, not that I'm likely to get one. Not necessarily enclosed, but a seat, place for wet umbrellas, for deliveries out of sight and in the dry. Morning sun is on the front of the house but I feel a bit conspicuous sitting outside the front door with my coffee! And roses growing around, of course!

    1. We seem to get the sun most of the day at the back of the house, so we are thinking of decking at the back. We did think of building a small enclosed porch for coats and boots etc. but we have had to cut back on costs, so we have altered the plans to a small hallway inside for that instead.

  5. I must admit that we have tried to get out of the being busy to feel a sense of worth state. Lots of people really don’t get it and just think we are bone idle … and sometimes we are … but I hate the idea of rushing from one commitment to another. IF we can achieve one thing a day then I’m happy. Anything else is a bonus 😀. IM enjoying seeing what you are doing with your new bungalow and looking forward to seeing it all come together. Carol.
