When we got back from our family get-together on Sunday night I sat outside on the sunny patio going through the bag of the boys baby things with Jason, and Alan had a snooze before setting off for Berkshire and another day at the office ... yes it was another t-shirt and jeans trip to work, which seems to be helping him cope with this additional stream of unpaid toil.
Jason left an hour later and I was left with just Ginger for company, which suited me just fine. I am a real introvert and after a busy time with people, even family, I do need a day to decompress. By the time Alan got back late on Monday night I was relaxed again and just about ready to face conversations. 😊
His parting question before he went over to bed was 'Do you want to go for breakfast at ...' for some reason the word Tiffany's immediately sprang to my mind ... but of course the next words were actually '... Booths in the morning?'.
We did, but it wasn't quite the same. 😄
I've loved this film for years, ever since we watched it at Christmas time during the last week of term one year at secondary school. Do you remember the days when a television on a stand would be wheeled into the classroom, or in this case it was the hall so that the whole school could watch?
I loved the film so much, and lots of us cried when 'Cat' was temporarily left out in the rain.
Sue xx
I remember a black & white TV being wheeled into the school assembly hall so we could watch the Apollo 11 moon landing.
ReplyDeleteI must have watched it later on the news, because I definitely remember being sat on the floor in front of the television at home, and my Dad saying 'you HAVE to watch this it's history in the making'. 😄
DeleteWe watched the investiture of Charles as Prince of Wales. Vivid memory of the Queens outfit [unusual hat] and repetition of his names "Charles Philip Arthur George". This family loves BAT, and all of Audreys films. In 1998 my tall slim elegant daughter had that outfit for a new years fancy dress party [ i did the dress, Bob made long cigarette holder...]
ReplyDeleteI remember being at home to watch this, we must have had the day off school. I bet she looked wonderful at her fancy dress party ... oh to be that slim and elegant!! :-)
DeleteI cried too... the scene haunted me...
ReplyDeleteI know ... poor Cat. :-(
DeleteWe have a cat who comes and visits us - his 'real' home is in the next street. We have tried calling him lots of names, but he seems to respond to 'Cat' best!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Ellie
Aww, I bet there are a lot of cats called Cat. My Gran always had a cat called Kitty. 🐈
DeleteWe haven't got a Booths but Costa and we often pop there, always good and I love a Toastie!
ReplyDeleteWe used to go for coffee and a panini at Costa regularly when we lived in Wales.😀
DeleteOh yes those huge TV's being wheeled in by a teacher huffing and blowing 😀
ReplyDeleteBreakfast at Booths sounds lovely

School kids these days would be amazed if that happened at school one day wouldn't they. 😄
DeleteGoodie - off to Booths again with you both! Ginger looks so handsome in old age.
ReplyDeleteWendy (Wales)
He's still a beautiful boy, but he's getting quite frail. I think losing the dogs really upset him. 😞
DeleteI had coffee and toast and Norrie had a bacon roll and coffee in Costa’s at Braehead this morning before he went for his eye check up. Sorry for lack of comments but I have been busy with 14 eyedrops a day since last Wednesday! I loved BAT and tonight I am going to watch Priscilla, Queen of the Desert to remember the gorgeous and talented Terence Stamp. A bit cooler today so think I may attack the ironing whilst listening to a podcast. Catriona
ReplyDeleteNever worry about lack of comments, being busy with something like that is important. As is a nice breakfast out every now and then.
DeleteI have to admit to never having watched Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. I've meant to a few times, but have never gotten around to it. I should remedy this as soon as I get out of my murder/mystery/cops tv series watching phase. :-)
I can remember the big TV being wheeled out in primary school for Winston Churchill's funeral, and for the launch of I think the QE II liner.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember Winston Churchill's funeral as I was not quite five then and didn't start school until the September of that year. We definitely had a television then though as I remember Watch with Mother ... Andy Pandy et al. ;-)
DeleteI feel like I must have see this at some point. Right? Who hasn't it? But I don't remember, so now I am going to watch it either again or for the first time. Cat? I would certainly have remembered that if I'd seen it!
ReplyDeleteJust for you ... https://youtu.be/9R0WAMP2c8A?si=DhIygTFdh7TJEwMN
DeleteThanks for Cat. I love that movie. Marjorie in Canada
ReplyDeleteI love Breakfast at Tiffany's, Audrey Hepburn is so elegant. The theme song Moon River was my Mum's favourite but sung by Andy Williams and she had it played on Housewives Choice. Xx
