We went out for lunch the other day to one of our favourite venues Daisy Clough Garden Centre and Tearooms in Scorton.
The are having a bit of a re-jig at the moment, the Autumn/Winter selection of clothes have appeared on the rails, the gardening section is being condensed and the pile of boxes at the entrance as we walked in suggested that Christmas will be appearing soon.
Alan chose a Prawn Salad and I had the small Fish and Chips with garden peas ... it's never mushy peas for me. Even the small portion was too much, so Alan ended up with all of the crispy little chips, his favourite sort ... and I ate all the big fat ones. We do compliment each other quite nicely. 😀
I also came home with some freebies off our table, the sugars that we didn't use, the little Biscoff biscuit that Alan wasn't in the mood for, and the lemon that was served with my fish, I don't like lemon juice on fish but I do use it in my compost heap jelly making, so it didn't go to waste.
On the way out I also spied two unopened little biscuit packs on a recently vacated table, so they came home with us too. I cannot bear the thought of good things ending up in the bin.

Especially free Biscoff biscuits!
ReplyDeleteExactly. 😄
DeleteVery kind of you to rescue those other packets of biscuits! Christmas will be here, soon, won't it? The four months till the big day will fly!
ReplyDeleteMorrisons supermarket has a wall full of selection boxes etc already in stock. I’m trying to ignore the winter festival for now but will be in head first next week when my craft class starts again! Catriona
ReplyDeleteI've made a start - I bought a tub of chocolates last week - they're hidden away (for now)!!
ReplyDeleteI always rescue sachets of sauce etc, they soon get used up at home. 4 months to C...........s where does the time go !

I slipped the unused ketchup sachet in my bag the other week. It had a split in it. Fortunately my bag was a washable nylon one and nothing of great importance was damaged by the red stains!
ReplyDeleteOh no!! I've done it with a salt sachet that had a hole in it once, but never with anything as messy as ketchup. 😞
DeleteWalking into Morrison supermarket yesterday I sighed at the wall of plastic Xmas sweet boxes. That wasn’t all- one aisle was starting to be filled with Xmas branded mince pies, cake and chocolate including selection boxes. I am a lover of Xmas and all its trimmings and even I DON’T want to see it in the shops on the 26th August….. What’s wrong with an autumnal aisle! Danette x
ReplyDeleteIt's much too soon for C stuff in the shops yet. Our village card shop is rammed with cards, wrapping paper gift bags etc all with a festive theme. I know I'm making cards with a festive theme but I have a lot to do so always make a start at the beginning of September...but we have lots of BIRTHDAYS to get through first! Including my own in November !
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with Alan on the crispy bits of chips. Yummy!

My best friend who passed away in 2020 loved those crispy small chips, I can't stand them. Like you i like the fat chips. We too were a perfect match in so many ways.
