I was searching for an image of a coin purse to use as an illustration on yesterdays blog post, but the only ones I could find online that I liked were copyrighted. So, I went back in time on my old blog and found an image of my old purse to use instead.
Dangerous stuff, it sent me down a rabbit hole of blog posts from various years, where cash was indeed king as we shopped with limited budgets gleaned from our various sealed pots..
This one was particularly interesting, it's from the era when we all used to share things to get to know each other better. It suited the times but I'm not so sure we would really do that sort of thing now ... or would we?
But, I decided I would be brave again and share it with you.

Everyone younger than me just seem to carry their phone with their debit card tucked into it!
ReplyDeleteI'm still a handbag full of all sorts person. (which might make a post for the future if I remember)
I've done that occasionally when I haven't wanted to take a bag out with me ... and I also have an emergency £20 note tucked into my phone case. It used to be an emergency £10 note for coffees or suchlike, but then Alan said 'what if I want a cake with my coffee' so I upped the limit. He also carries an emergency £20, so I suspect he's planning a feast!!
DeleteI started to write and it whooshed off! I use a bag and leave my phone at home its so heavy! Thank you for your kind comments after my 'to do' with the Travellator, silly me!
ReplyDeleteGosh, it's annoying when that happens isn't it, many a time I've been halfway through a comment and it disappears. I think my phone is definitely the heaviest thing in my bag these days, the phone in the blog post photo is a much smaller offering, but then it was back in 2010.
DeleteI love your sense of humour with your new rose, I hope you have a restful weekend. :-)
Lovely to re-read that post. I’m a backpack kind of woman these days and am currently wearing a Ridley one which I got in the Chester Oaks outlet enroute to Wales. Like you, I wear them out even though I have some beautiful ones in my wardrobe. Catriona
ReplyDeleteSometimes I go down a rabbit hole of reading old posts, they seem as new to me as anyone else. Well I guess that particular one was written 15 years ago ... where HAS the time gone!!
DeleteI only ever own one handbag at a time these days and use it until it wears out, I used to be a real 'bag lady' when I first met Alan. I love the one I have now as it is small, has slots for cards, space for notes and an inner zip compartment for coins, so I don't need to own a purse anymore.
I really enjoyed reading that Thank you. I love a bag but somehow, more and more I'm joining in the thing of just carrying my phone with a cash card and a fiver stuffed in it and anything else I need in my jeans pockets.
ReplyDeleteSign of the times I guess .....
