Blogmas Day Twenty One - Will I Make It Until Christmas Day?

I already have so much of what I need, and these days there is little extra that I want to add to that, but consumables or usable things that I like to use regularly are always very welcome.

So every year for Christmas, almost since the year we met over twenty one years ago Alan has bought me a supply of my favourite body cream for Christmas, and occasionally for my birthday too.  Sometimes it's six tubs and sometimes it's three ... so I do get a surprise.  My gift comes in those particular numbers as very regularly this particular cream is on offer in Boots the Chemist on a '3 for the price of 2'  offer, and sensibly Alan takes advantage of this.

Why do I like this one so much, well it doesn't bring me out in a rash as so many scented creams tend to do, and almost as important I can remember the scent of it.  So with me still having no sense of smell I at least know what I smell like immediately after a shower.

Last year he bought me six tubs and I still had one left over from the previous year ...

... this is what I have left this morning.

Will I make it until Christmas Day? 🤞

He used to buy his Mum Fenjal products every year without fail, and I used to wonder if she was happy with that.  Now I know for sure that she probably was really happy, and Alan is happy that there is at least one present that he doesn't have to think too much about that he knows will always make me happy.

  1. I hope you mean 3 for the price of 2 or you'd better tell Alan he's onto a loser. Ho hum - I love Fenjal also, perhaps it's a mum thing. Read your blog(s) for years and always enjoy hearing from you. Thanks for sharing, love to you both, Elaine

    1. They are lovely aren't they. He did try to 'surprise' me one year and bought me the Rose scented version ... I had to take them back and swap them. He knows better now. ;-)

    1. They are a bit expensive, well they seem so to me, but when they are on offer it makes them a bit more realistic. Maybe I'm a cheapskate!!

    1. It really is, I love to know what to expect and know that it's what I want and need. Gosh I sound so boring!! :-)

  5. What a relief not to have to worry about a present being acceptable. Taking advantage of the 3 for 2 offers or other inducements makes perfect sense.

    1. I'm glad you understand so well. It really is a relief when the present is right isn't it. I am so bad at feigning joy, when there is none, my face is too readable even if I say all the right words.

    1. Aww, that's nice. I used to love Nivea, but it seems so heavy and thick to me now. It's a classic though isn't it.

  8. Useful presents are always the best, no? My Mum used to like Fenjal. I sometimes buy Badedas shower gel, that takes me back.

  9. When I used to get a Boots gift voucher from work I always bought those Sanctuary products. I'm really fussy when it comes to smells and their stuff always smells divine! A friend of Mum's used to buy me a bottle of Loulou perfume for birthday and Xmas every year, I disliked the smell and ended up with a huge stockpile as neither of us had the heart to tell him! xxx

    1. Haha, that similar to something that Alan's Mum had a problem with. There was always Imperial Leather soap on the sink in her bathroom, so people would always buy her more of it as gifts. Then one day she confessed to me that she hated the smell of it, but left it on the sink so that people would think their gifts were being used. She kept a bar of lavender scented soap in her bathroom cabinet in a little dish so she could use that. I kept her supplied with handmade lavender soap after that. :-)
