The final shopping photo of 2025.
I called to Sainsbury's and Aldi this morning for emergency Lemsip supplies for us both, and while I was in both shops I had a browse at their Veganuary offerings. There were slim pickings in our little branches, but that wasn't really a problem as I didn't want to buy anything specific except some mayonnaise and I managed to get that in Aldi. But I did buy a few extra things to pop into the freezer for those nights when I haven't the energy or the will to do much.
And the Apple Strudel called out my name as I passed by. π
So for January I will be taking part in Veganuary. I decided a while ago that I would be thinking of going back to my vegan roots in 2026, and this seems like a good way to see if that really is what I want for the future. Eating eggs and fish has worn thin with me, I don't think that they have brought me any visible or measurable health benefits and have just turned me into a bit of a lazy cook.
It's time to change things up a bit.
I'm signing off for the year now, so I will see you bright and fresh in the brand new, New Year.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank every single one of you who have read along with my wacky, at times unexpected ramblings. Thank those of you who leave comments, and occasionally suggestions and put up with my answering or not answering as time and whims dictate, and to say that I hope that each and every one of you have a calm and peaceful entrance into 2026.
I will be tucked up cosy and warm way before any bells ring for the New Year, so my party dress code is pyjamas. π
Happy New Year.
Sue xx

Happy new year to you, Sue and of course, Alan and Ginger.
ReplyDeleteThere shall be good days and bad. Exciting times and Meh times.
It's another journey round the sun. I'm looking forward to it.
Nighty for me. I hate pyjamas! I will be in bed loooooong before midnight. Walter the dog will join me.
Thanks again for your writings! Xx
Thank you for reading and commenting, I hope you have a lovely New Year. ♥️
DeleteHappy 2026 to you, Alan and Ginger. I too will be going into the New Year without celebrations although I think I am going to treat myself to the final Downton Film on Prime to finish the year. Slainte Mhath! Catriona
ReplyDeleteThank you. I hope you have a lovely New Year. ❤️ I have a confession, I have never seen any of Downton!! π±
DeleteSame dress code here too, same as last year and very happy with it. I've become a bit of a lazy cook with all the vegan offerings in the shops, undoubtedly more expensive than making my own. I will be trying a few veganuary items though as sometimes they disappear by February after which I will be returning to a lot more homemade. The three advantages to this being making a batch so future ready meals in the freezer, cheaper and i think homemade is healthier. Wishing you and Alan a very Happy New Year with lots of adventures of the best kind ahead in 2026.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely going to be mostly eating WFPB, but it's good to gave some emergency supplies for when my brain switches off. π Happy New Year. xx

DeleteHappy New Year. I will be curled up with some embroidery and probably back in bed well before the clock strikes 12.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
It's nice seeing in a new year gently isn't it. Happy New Year Jackie. ❤️
DeleteHappy New year my lovely, and thank you for all the ramblings. Especially the one, many moons ago, where you mentioned nasal problems in connection with dairy intolerance - that was a HUGE "OMG" moment for me, thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteSo I will be doing my own version of Veganuary with you, and for the other 11 months of 2026 as well. I miss cheese so much, but I miss a decent night's sleep even more, and the blocked nose and mouth-breathing that milk proteins cause are just not worth it.
Wow, I'm glad I was able to help. It's good to have a light bulb moment and be able to do something about it. Here's to a dairy-free New Year. ππΎπ₯xx
DeleteWe also thank you for your articles!!
ReplyDeleteMay we have a Happy New Year with Peace, Health, Love and Empathy!
