Blogmas Day Four - A Very Booky Christmas Tree

Ooh I wish I was artistic enough to be able to build something like this.  But instead I will sit back and admire this photograph and then look at my own little tree and admire her too.

I bought us two Christmas crackers from the animal charity shop in Fleetwood a few months ago.  They should have been 20p each but I gave £1 ... which still makes them a bargain to me.  My intention was to find something tiny that suits us both to put in each of them for Christmas Day ... I need to get my act together and find those 'something tinies' as soon as possible.  But if I run out of time there are always sweets to pop in instead.

We got the decorations down from the top bedroom in the house the other day, and discovered in the big plastic box half a dozen more crackers.

There will be a lot of pulling of crackers this year. 🎄

Happy Anniversary Alan ... we've been married for 18 years today. 💖

Sue xx

I wonder how long that tree stood up for; 'I think I'd just like to read that book in the middle...' Or did they use glue?

    1. Thank you. Yes, I wondered, it would take careful planning, and the use of books that you wouldn't want to read for a month. :-)

    1. Thank you. Wow, 54 years, that is a real achievement and one my parents were just a year away from reaching. We could never make it to that as this is my second marriage, and Alan's third. I got to 26 years the first time so we are just aiming to at least beat that. :-)

    1. Thank you, yes, I knew it was porcelain, but only because Alan was thinking we were at 17 ... so we looked up what 18 was. :-)

  9. A very happy anniversary to you both. I don't buy crackers anymore as with a lot of Christmas "extras"
I do love to see all the decorations and lights though. They cheer up the dark nights, don't they. X

    1. Thank you . No we don't usually buy new ones, but a couple from the charity shop was a nice way to make a little donation. Gosh it has been so grey and dreary here in Lancashire for the last few months, all the decorations and lights are a happy diversion.

  12. Happy Anniversary to you both - have you planned Coffee and Cake at Booths for your celebration?

I saw a photo online of a very large tree made from knitted teddy bears that were being donated in the new year. Reminded me of a tree fashioed from knitted beanies one of my craft groups made one year.

    1. Thank you. We went out for breakfast at Dobbie's and to claim December's free coffees, and then on to a 'new to us' Tesco in Preston to buy some biscuits for Mum's carers at the nursing home. We know how to live it up. ;-)

  23. Happy Anniversary! I like the book tree! It would have to be glued if one has pets who might want to climb on the stack of books, though!
