The fridge was looking slightly sorry for itself this morning.
Low stocks and a needing a bit of a wipe out while it was so bare. So I decided to give it a good clean ... and promptly dropped the bottom vegetable drawer on the floor, separating the front of the drawer from the sides and losing lots of little bits of plastic at the same time. Oops!!
I borrowed some of Alan's Gorilla Glue and proceeded to stick the bits back together Will it work, I really don't know, but it was worth a go. In my usual 'I'm bloody useless at gluing things together' fashion I managed to stick it to the rug in the living room when I left it to set. The one upside was that with it not being Super Glue I didn't stick myself to it too!!
If it doesn't hold I will try moving the other drawer down and use the glass divider above it as another shelf. It's not the end of the world. 😀
Trying to find a job that didn't involve dropping things or glue, I got all the fruity bits and pieces out of the freezer ...
... and got them slowly simmering away in some water ready to make a batch of Compost Heap Jelly tomorrow. All it has to do is to simmer away for a few hours and then drip through the jelly bag overnight.
I should be safe with that ... 🤞
Sue xx
I laughed at the drawer sticking to the rug - that's my sort of thing.
ReplyDeleteHaha, happens to me all the time. 😄
DeleteI hope that the rug fits well in the freezer . . .! Compost heap jelly - now I need to make some of that, and also some Back of the Freezer Jelly, as I know I have blackberries, cherries and recently some elderberries stowed away in there. Job for Thursday or Friday.
ReplyDeleteHaha. 😀 Ooh, Alan would love your berry and cherry jelly.
DeleteOooh-compost jelly-lovely! Catriona
ReplyDeleteIt's simple tasty and do economical. 😀
DeleteI am cleaning our fridge too over several days... the shelves first, while the fridge was fairly empty. The shelves are so awkward, I was worried about dropping them! I've done the drawers too... now for the door.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to do it in stages isn't it. It gives you time to plan what to make out of everything. 😀
DeleteThermoworx Whitemorph 100g. Hand mouldable bioplastic. Melt, Mould and Reuse from Amazon.
ReplyDeleteI haven't used it. I saw a lady on Instagram use it for diy. Maybe an option if the gorilla glue doesn't hold X
Sounds fascinating, but I'm not paying out for something. If the glue doesn't work I have my back up plan. 😀
DeleteCompost heap jelly? I assume it means food that would otherwise of gone on the compost heap but is now some sort of fruity jelly somehow?
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly that. I save all the fruit scraps and chuck them in a bag in the freezer until I have enough for a batch of jelly. 🍎🍋
DeleteBecause my fridge/freezer is in a corner and the door doesn't open far enough I cant get the glass shelves or salad drawer out easily -they get wiped in situ - annoying - but sounds like it's probably a good thing!
ReplyDeleteGosh, I would find that frustrating, but as you say you will never have my sort of accident. 😏
DeleteIt’s so annoying when you start what you think is going to be a quick job and then it becomes not a quick job! Good to know you didn’t glue yourself to the fridge Sue 🤣 June
ReplyDeleteI was slightly 'tacky' for a few hours, but at least I was free!! 😄
DeleteYour fridge is the same size as mine.
ReplyDeleteI wish mine was eye level like this, bending down to reach in and finding an old food item seems to be too regular an occurrence now!
I really prefer having the fridge on the top half and not having to bend down to see what I have available. My tiny under-counter fridge freezer at the flat was the worse fridge I ever had. I had to get on my hands and knees to find things ☹️
DeleteI only have to look at the interior of the fridge and a bit of plastic falls off!
ReplyDeleteDoes the compost heap jelly taste like marmalade without the shreds?
Alison in Devon x
It does a bit yes, a mild marmalade. The flavour always varies from batch to batch depending on what scraps I've saved. I can also vary the colour if I add some blueberries or blackberries. 😀
DeleteYour fridge looks very nice and clean, if a bit empty. So sorry about the broken drawer; glad you didn't glue yourself to the drawer and the rug! :D
ReplyDeleteIt would have made a good comedy sketch wouldn't it. 😄
DeleteNow, I have actually glued myself to various things and needed Harvey to get said glued items off my fingers.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the broken drawer, I do hope the gluing worked.
God bless.
I did once glue myself to a dog lead that I was mending. I forgot that it was canvas and as I held it together while it 'set', it seeped through and flued me to the layers. Now THAT took some peeling apart. It seems to have worked and the drawer is sliding in and out and holding some weight this morning.
DeleteOh my goodness :) I had to smile at the thought of glueing the rug to the drawer. It's the kind of thing I would do too ...lol...;) Fingers crossed the glue holds.
ReplyDeleteI've just checked again and it really seems to have worked. I have my fingers crossed too. :-)
