I have had a few requests to share the renovations to the bungalow, so here are two YouTube videos that show a quick before and a slightly more leisurely after. I had the kitchen fitter following me round on the before, he was itching to start the rip-out. 😄

Mum's Bungalow - Before
And then Mum's bungalow after.

Although we have enjoyed bringing this lovely little bungalow back to life, it has been tough with us not living close by, and the travel times and the hard work have been a bit more than we realised. It meant that while we combined each work day with a visit to Mum in her lovely care home, she has not seen the best of us for a while. We have been exhausted, in our scruffier clothes and not the most scintillating company, but she understands ... or at least I hope she does. Still, a little rest and we should be rearing to go again.
Did I really just say that ... go again!!
Sue xx
Alan looks like a leprechaun! You're right Sue, it is a lovely little bungalow, the new kitchen looks so fresh and you've both worked so hard, especially with all that travelling and the health issues (how's your back?). You'll both enjoy a well deserved retirement! xx
ReplyDeleteOooh, never call a Scottish man a leprechaun ... haha.
DeleteMy back will never really improve from where it is now, and it's not good. I now have the start of COPD which runs in the family. We also have other problems that have had to be put on a back burner while we had so much on. Alan is about to have his second hand operated on and he has a permanent rheumatic shoulder. Basically we are falling to bits, but at least we have each other to pick up all the pieces. ;-)
Oh Sue, that's not good for either of you. Getting older is a bugger isn't it 😡 Sooze xx
DeleteI guess it's better than the alternative. 😄
DeleteYou both did a wonderful job with the renovations. Is the unit for sale or rent now?
ReplyDeleteNo, neither. We think my brother will be moving into the bungalow eventually instead, that's if it's not needed for care home fees.
DeleteBeautiful place. You both did a great job. I'd happily live there.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good little bungalow just the perfect size for one or two people, and Mum had brilliant neighbours. 😀
DeleteYou and Alan did a wonderful job on the renos. So fresh and clean.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
It really is now, it is good to see it so sparkly clean again after the past couple of years.
DeleteYour Mum's bungalow looks fabulous 😻 I especially love the high ceilings. All the hard work has certainly paid off and you both deserve a well earned break👍I'm sorry to hear about your health issues but as you said it's better than the alternative! Happy retirement to you both 🎉
ReplyDeleteI think it's the high ceilings that make it feel so spacious. It was well worth doing, as the estate agent reckons we have added an additional £30k to £40k to it's value. 😀
DeleteYour Mum's bungalow looks lovely! I really like the new kitchen. I hope you get to rest and relax now that the work is completed. Sorry to hear about your own health issues; getting older is not fun, is it? But, as you said, better than the alternative!
ReplyDeleteWe're happy that is all finished now, time to relax a bit now. We soldier on with our health, but at least we have each other to have a whinge at. 😄
DeleteI love Alan's hat, and the house is charming. I'm sorry your health issues are ongoing. All the best.
ReplyDeleteHe's a happy fool isn't he. 😄 Nothing gets us down for too long, a slow start in the mornings now and some rest and relaxation and things should improve a bit. We've just really had to push ourselves this last few months to get everything done, and it's taken it's toll.
DeleteWhat a wonderful home the bungalow will make for someone. Enjoy your retirement for a little while especially in this good weather. Great photo of your very own flowerpot man. Catriona
ReplyDeleteHaha yes, he does look like a flowerpot man. 😄 Hopefully my brother will be happy in the bungalow for many years. 🙂
DeleteYou've done a cracking job with the bungalow, thanks for the tour!
ReplyDeleteIf Alan gets bored with retirement with that hat he could start a Jamiroqui tribute act! xxx
Haha, he could. 😄
DeleteYou both did an amazing job. You deserve a bit of relaxation now.
ReplyDeleteI agree, totally. 😄
DeleteYou have both done an absolutely cracking job on the bungalow. With everything that's been going on you now deserve some fun and relaxation. I love the photo of Alan ! Enjoy your bit of rest,
ReplyDeleteAngie x
He's a wacky guy isn't he. You've got to laugh .. as he is frequently saying. 😄
