The Year of the Horse

I've always had a passing interest in the Chinese years, also a slight interest in astrology, made more profound because virtually everything that I read about Aries people, of which I am one, seems to be so spot on.

I used to read the horoscopes in the paper many, many years ago.  Now it's just a passing interest if something comes up online and catches my attention.

Back in the days after my divorce had been finalised, and just before I met Alan I signed up for Yahoo Personals, the online dating site ... yep that's how we met, we were pioneers of online dating.  Back when it used to be a much safer place with no 'catfishing' and very little scamming.  One of the adverts that I replied to was from a guy called John, who advertised with:

Pisces Monkey seeking Aries Rat

I was intrigued, as no doubt was his plan, so I responded, well I am an Aries rat!!  We had a couple of dates, and the main ... no the sole ... conversation was about astrology and Chinese years, calendars, animals.

I moved on as rats tend to do when there's nothing of interest on offer.  🐀

What is your astrology sign and Chinese animal year?

  1. I am a Scorpio born in the Chinese year of the horse. I have no idea what the horse thing means, but apparently Scorpios are rather difficult customers. I've never felt much like a Scorpio but maybe others would say I fit the mold!

    1. Oh yes, I have only ever met one other Scorpio, that I know of, but he was definitely a VERY difficult customer. ;-)

    2. I am also a Scorpian born in the Chinese year of the Horse. Apparently Scorpians are either the life and soul of the party, generous and gregarious or they can dip to very low levels and have evil qualities! And I have heard the saying that you should never cross a Scorpian.....

  2. I am also a Scorpio, born in the Chinese year of the snake.
I was in China with my DD2 when she was adopting her and her hubby's second daughter, and I purchased a plate with the snake design on it. It glows in the dark.

    1. Gosh, I wonder what the odds are of the first three people to comment on this post all being Scorpios?

    1. It can be amazing how uncannily accurate these things are can't it. Maybe I should take note a bit more.

  5. I am under Cancer, but no idea on the Chinese thing (it will probably turn out to be the snake as I have a severe phobia over them!!). As a true cancerian I love water, stay in my shell when threatened and am family orientated - and here is an interesting question I wonder how many bloggers star signs you could guess by the nature and content of their blogs? I think mine probably reflects my sign, especially when we had the cottage right by the sea!

    1. We did something similar to this a few years ago and a lot of us, especially the Sue's, turned out to be Aries. 😄

  6. Sagittarian born in the year of the Tiger/Metal. After a read through of both categories, definitely spot on for me, too. All bit woo-woo, but fun for an occasional look.

  8. Hi Sue, I am an Aries - Wood Horse and the Chinese depiction is spot on, also had my natal chart done in 1987 and gosh it was and still is spookily accurate!! So here we go ready to gallop into 2026. Have a great New Year and keep us posted about your bungalow project. Jan in Castle Gresley

  9. I'm an Aquarian and a very typical one, married to a Scorpio. Apparently the two birth signs that shouldn't marry each other, but here we are 52 years later. Xx

  12. You've got us all looking up our birth sign and year of birth traits, what fun. I'm another Scorpio and born in the year of the rabbit. Both say intuitive which makes sense because I do have something of a sixth sense. On the other hand one says violent and the other gentle! I have to say I seem to be a true Scorpio in that I can be exceedingly patient but cross me once to often and you will find I have a sting in my tail.

  13. I am a pure Capricorn, and according to the Chinese year I was born in the year of the Wood Goat. Not too much fits me in the Chinese year, but man Capricorn is me to a T.

    God bless.

  16. Many years ago a complete stranger came up to me and told me that I was a Fire Horse, that I went through life breaking hearts and no mna would ever tame me. I think he got it just right!
I don't read horroscopes or anything like that but most of the people I've got along best with in life have almost always been Fire signs. xxx

  20. Ooh you brave soul to join a dating site, even in the 'safer' days! Our son and his mate created a dating site years ago before he went to Australia. It was big business even then (must be 25 years ago now) and I think they sold the company on pretty quickly.

I'm a Scorpio but no idea about the Chinese calendar...
