Hardworking Worms, and YouTube

Art - Lady of the Garden by Lore Pemberton

Unlike this lovely image my garden is almost done for the year, although amazingly I have some flowers still looking lovely, if a little scruffy around the edges.  But they are providing nourishment for the couple of bees that I have spotted recently, so they will remain as they are until no little lives depend on them.

I have one more tomato plant to take down and feed to the tiny compost bin.  It really is tiny so I feed it with weeds, trimmings and food scraps slowly, leaving the worms to do their magic for a few days in between ... it's amazing how hard they work.

A lot harder than me if I'm honest!!

I also have to be honest and say that I have not been reading much at all this month, the dark mornings and evenings have seen me snuggled up on my chair with a mug of coffee and the television switched to the YouTube channel.

While the television itself can be is full of depressing news and mind-numbingly boring quiz shows (not you Only Connect and The Chase), there are so many people filling the screen with lovely positive videos and interesting things to watch.  So that is currently my viewing of choice.

So here are a few YouTube of the channels that I am really enjoying at the moment.

  1. We look forward to Rewilding Jude every Sunday - he clearly appeals to lots of others as he only usually does one video a week yet has a huge number of followers. He seems to be lovely and normal for a change!!

    1. It is really nice when you find a 'normal, good person' on any social media platform isn't it. All four of these ones that I watch seem to be just that.

  2. We had bees back yesterday just as I thought I would cut the rest of the lavender down-just left if for them to enjoy. Our golden rose is still flowering and a pot of marigolds that we were gifted. I’m off to start making some lavender sachets from last years dried lavender. Happy weekend. Catriona

  3. It does no harm to just be and enjoy snippets from others' lives.

  4. Some nice recommendations for some relaxing viewing there.
The caption on the lovely illustration was very apt for me today as I woke up feeling very grumpy, a turn round the garden helped tremendously 😀

  5. My little raised bed is full of gorgeous pink antirrhinum. Seeds dropped by a passing bird perhaps. A pop of colour on a dull October day

  6. I shall check those out on You Tube on the telly later. Thank you. I am nearly at the end of Eve's War now, and have enjoyed it so much. I will go to the Library on Monday and see what else I can find along those lines. My rose are still flowering, and I have some perennials still in bloom, and a couple of late pink clematises.

  7. I think we've got similar tastes when it comes to TV shows and love strong, feisty women. I've binge watched Sally Wainwright's Riot Women (BBC) this week and absolutely loved every kick ass, sweary minute of it! xxx

  8. What a perfect picture and quote at the top here- I love it! Thanks for the Minty and Mortar recommendation. I love watching The Gentle Season and Real Vintage Dollshouse on You Tube, both lovely down to earth women who just ‘are themselves’ . I always feel as if I’ve used my screen time well when I finish watching them. Danette

  9. Rebecca is just lovely. We nearly met at Harlow Carr in the summer but something cropped up at my end and we were unable to meet 😊

  10. Thank you for sharing the YouTube channels. I look forward to watching their videos. I've found a nice one recently @ainsleydurose a pastry chef in France with the tiniest cutest kitchen. She does mainly short videos of baking or going to Paris flea markets and finding vintage antiques but her videos are all so beautiful.
