Yes, that's me stood on the 'floor' in what will be our living room, I can just about see out of the window.
And that's Alan stood in the only room that still actually has a floor.
Come into the living room he says with a smirk!!
The fireplace shows the level of where the floor was until Alan took out first the floorboards and then the joists.
Everything just looks so strange.
Alan has been working really hard over the last two weeks to strip everything out ready for the next stages of the renovations to take place. He's exhausted every afternoon when he gets home for a hot bath, but he says he's loving it.
Gosh, men are strange. 😄
The room that I was stood in when I waved out of the window.
So, where are all the floors and joists then?
They are in the garden under tarpaulins, ready to be chopped up one day to give us years and years of kindling for the log burner.
Another job that crazy Alan says he's looking forward to!!
Copper pipes in the kitchen waiting to be taken, along with the old copper water tank, to the scrap metal merchants. Seemingly the price of scrap copper is at an all time high at the moment. We are just clawing back some money whenever we can.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Sue xx
Here in Manchester, I'm Grandparent Duty. I'm playing games, helping with domestic stuff...and my beloved is happily wielding power tools, fixing all the little jobs my daughter and SIL need doing in their new home. Rain very heavy right now, so the ladder still fixed to the roof rack. Once it's drier, he can go up and fix the guttering.Good that the copper is saleable! Good for the environment AND good for the budget. Not sure I will get a trip to Booths this weekend though!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness-that really is a strip out! It’s great that we can now take photos on our phones to keep a record of how things were before you improved them.Glad to hear you can sell the copper and at least get some money back. Also good that the wood can be used to heat your new home. Catriona
ReplyDeletei'm loving all your repurposing and economics, keep up the good work. I hope you're feeling a bit better now Sue, you've had it rough health wise recently.
ReplyDeleteHope all your lovely copper is locked away until you can take it to a scrappie. Its terrible but things do have a habit of 'walking' these days. All your renovations will be worth it though. Xx
ReplyDeleteI can see why Alan is 'floored' when he gets home. Sorry, couldn't resist. :)
ReplyDeleteWell done, Alan.
Well, that's definitely a 'fixer-upper'! Congratulations to Allan for having so much energy and enthusiasm 👏
