While I love the thought behind this graphic, and agree with all that it states are the real luxuries of life, the spelling mistake and the spelling of 'colorful' make it grate slightly with me.

I do wish people would proof read before putting things out online, or perhaps they are now doing it on purpose so they can gather in comments from everyone telling them that they have made a mistake.  Of course, if the person that made the meme is from the US the spelling of colorful would have been right for them, but my spellcheck is hating me at the moment.

Gosh, I had better really proof-read this post before pressing publish hadn't I.  😄

I've now opened the jar of Aldi strawberry jam that I bought here a couple of weeks ago, when my Compost Heap Jelly was about to run out.  This one had been highly recommended as a good non-UPF but very affordable jam, or conserve as the label calls it.

The ingredients are:

Sugar
Strawberries
Lemon Juice
and the gelling agent is Pectin.

So exactly what I would use at home if I were making it myself.

It's very tasty, a bit sweeter than my usual homemade jams or jelly, but it's very nice to have a jar of shop bought jam for a change, and at £1.49 for a jar it's very good value for what you get.  I will possibly be buying it again, as I rarely make my own strawberry jam.  It always seems a bit sacrilegious to boil some lovely fresh strawberries to death when they could just be eaten as they are with some lovely ice-cream. 🍓

  1. Love the message. The spelling of colourful and favourite suggest it is from the US. Mx

  2. I'm with you all the way on buying strawberry jam rather than 'boiling strawberries to death' myself!

    1. I make freezer jam because it doesn’t cook the berries. The jam tastes very fresh. My bigger issue here in the US Midwest is sourcing good local berries. I can’t seem to grow them! ~Carol

  3. Probably American, as some don't do 'u', they only do 'me'! ..........Oops so controversial!
I'm only thinking of one American not the nice people who read our blogs!

I meant to say of your yesterday post about views from the loo. I used to love the early days of camping when campsites weren't busy and we had a toilet in a toilet tent and if we pitched in the right place we could have a loo with a view out across countryside!

  4. Yes, American spellings, although mornings is spelled incorrectly. On the other hand, maybe mornings feel like "mornigs" before that first cup of coffee or tea! :D

  5. My inner editor noticed both, and American or not, ''mornig" is an error. Perhaps a cup of something or a decent dictionary?

  6. I get annoyed with the American spelling in The Times Polygon. I haven’t forgiven the setter for math instead of maths, and texting abbreviated words such as nite and arvo.
Fig jam is nice for a change, lovely in thick yoghurt. My sister made Medicinal jam at school, from Mum’s old Farmhouse Cookbook, figs and prunes and spices, one teaspoon to be taken daily.

  7. With the exception of "mornigs", it looks right from where I'm sitting in Texas :)

  8. Glad you liked the strawberry jam, I sometimes make it but usually mixed with something else to make the strawberries go further!

  9. I see so many of those memes littered with spelling errors I think you might be right, the errors are deliberately there in order to attract comments.
Neither of us eat jam but we buy it to make jam sandwiches to leave out for our garden foxes - we're treating them with a homeopathic medicine for mange and it's the only way they'll eat it! xxx

  10. Though from US, I always make it a point to put the u in certain words (and add an s to math) when I comment on UK blogging sites. And remember to use different words for various items (i.e. car boot vs trunk; pavement vs sidewalk). Helps that I grew up in the UK and had a British mother. Guess you could say I am bilingual in English. :)

  11. You'd hate Canada. We use both variations of spelling. I've seen people use colour and then neighbor. I think a lot of it has to do with their age.

Bonne Mamman is the jam of choice in our family. Comte de Provence is also nice.

  12. As a Canadian of a certain age I would never spell colour or neighbour the American way. I do know that since we no longer use Canadian spelling books and switched to American the younger generations have lost the Canadian way of spelling. That was a very good price on the jam.

    God bless.

  13. Love the meme ❤️ I didn't pick up mornigs and read it as mornings 😁 I also noticed favorite whereas I spell it favourite 😁
