I was asked via email what my plans for the food, specifically the onions were. Well the red onion was immediately cut into to add to a 'wrap quiche'.
Halfway through preparing it I remembered something I had to tell Alan, so I nipped round to tell him, only to find him sat at his kitchen table tearing up bread for the birds. Now I knew that particular loaf was only about a week old as we had bought it to take on holiday with us, so I cadged the last two slices and left him tearing up the end crusts.
Sorry birds, my frugal needs are greater than yours ... anyway you shouldn't be eating too much bread!!
The quiche came out perfectly, well better than my last effort when the eggs seeped under the wrap, effectively gluing some of the wrap to the tin ... now that took some soaking and scrubbing!!
I had a nice sit down watching an episode of Signora Volpe on television and eating my dinner.
The plan I had for my two nabbed slices of bread was a nice simple tuna, onion and cheese toastie, as this would use up the last of this packet of cheese and some more of the onion.
Which seems very similar to the quiche but in fact tasted completely different.
I now have half a tin of tuna and the rest of the onion to use up. As you can see each meal from the fridge moves me forward using cupboard items which then get added to the fridge and this is why although I have been eating this way for a couple of weeks the fridge has not yet emptied.
I do seem to be very good these days at making things go a long way and last a long time, as this tin of chocolate balls shows. These were bought HERE just before Christmas and I still have the last four to eat. Or maybe, because I have now noticed them they will all vanish this week, but even if they do, keeping chocolate in the house for over five months must surely be a new record for me. 😁

You made good use of your onion!
ReplyDeleteI do like it when I challenge myself this way. 😀
DeleteOoooh! Tuna and red onion. That's something I haven't eaten in a while, so I may need to rectify that, as it's delicious.
ReplyDeleteI admire your chocolate restraint. They would never last that long in this house. Xx
I put a far too many onion bits in, I could taste them all night. But it's a good combo with mayonnaise isn't it. I've still not eaten them, isn't it weird ... I must be all growed up. 😄😉
DeleteDon’t know if you like coriander, but tuna, onion, tomatoes and coriander mixed together is wonderful and can be served on crackers for a tasty snack/meal.
ReplyDeleteFresh coriander leaves.
DeleteOh gosh no, coriander is the food of the devil, it tastes like soap to me I always sub it for parsley or dried mixed herbs in recipes or just leave it out altogether.
DeleteFresh is worse than dried to me. I've had carrot and coriander soup in the past when it was the only choice and quite enjoyed it.
DeleteOooh the quiche and toastie look so good especially as I haven't eaten breakfast yet!
ReplyDeleteI hate coriander too. I can taste it all day after I've eaten even a tiny bit and it's a strange taste to me. Like soap just about covers it :(
They were both so tasty, I think this is my new favourite way for cooking a quick quiche, from chopping to ready in twenty minutes or less.
DeleteIt's fab, isn't it, so quick and healthy :)

DeleteI've just learned something new, a wrap quiche, what a good idea! I'm the opposite to you, I adore coriander but detest raw onion! xxx
ReplyDeleteI only discovered them myself a couple of weeks ago, it makes a lovely light breakfast, lunch or evening meal. I'm slightly addicted. :-)
DeleteLove the wrap quiche idea. I'm in the love coriander camp too, but do get it that the quirky taste isn't for everyone!

Quirky is a polite word for it. 😄😄
DeleteI just pulled my last onion out, so as I do not want to go shopping this week, I will be making do with onion powder for that specific flavour.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thanks for the reminder, I was just about to make my breakfast and realised that I have no onion left now. But, I have got onion powder. Phew! 😀
