A Random Pug

The dark mornings, with just enough light to read by are my salve and my salvation at the moment.

I whizzed through this little book in the space of a day, only putting it down to do the things I had to do.  It had a neat little twist two thirds of the way through and not the ending I expected at all, but it was a nice little read.

I went to take another photo of the cover for you, but a random Pug decided that she had to sit in that exact spot just as I clicked the button.  Oh well, time to put the kettle on and start on my next read.

If I don't read this now it will be waiting until next year. 🎄

  1. Welcome back Sue, hope you had a good Christmas, and looking forward to you blogging in the new year. A random pug's (or any dog come to that) bum is always welcome!

    1. We did, thank you. Quiet and slow ... just what we needed. She's always got to be in shot hasn't she. :-)

  2. I find myself reading a lot more since Tom went, it fills the time and takes you to another place. As for the dogs bum, I get photo bombed regularly with mine, even though I only have two left now. Happy New Year to you and may it be relatively trouble free and full of love. Briony x

    1. It's sad when our furry friends numbers go down isn't it. We are dreading losing ours they are 14,13 and 12 now and really starting to show their ages. I hope you have a Happy New Year too, and I hope it brings you everything you want it to. xx

    1. There will be less snippets of home and our personal lives ... although I have no doubt that will creep in at the edges ... but hopefully lots of food and books.

  4. Salve and salvation - two great descriptive words. Settling down with a book is such a comfort on the gloomy winter days. Happy New Year to all at yours x

  8. I'm so happy to see you back blogging. Just do it your way!! I can't wait to pick up my new reading glasses as I've not been able to read much with my varifocals! xxx

    1. It will be slightly different this time, but it's good to be back and have worked things out. I have never fancied varifocals, my Mum had such a hard time getting used to them, thank goodness I just need reading glasses and my prescription has remained the same for the last 10 years.

  11. Just looked up that first book on the library website - sounds too scary for me!

    1. It's actually not that scary, I quite enjoyed it. I rarely read fiction, something I am hoping to change this year as I do own some fiction books, but when I do dip into one I find I read it quickly and find it relaxing.

    1. I'm starting low key and small, but it's nice to be back and Follower numbers do seem to be growing already so there must be a bit of interest in my ramblings.

  15. You caught me out.
I've been visiting your old blog every day hoping to find that you'd relented, but only discovered this one today.
I'm so glad that you are back.
It seemed impossible that you would not be blogging again but as you often say you like to keep us all guessing.
It is pouring with rain here with the wind whipping up the sea and raindrops lashing against the windows.
A day to curl up with a book and some warm food.
We have to go out as we are celebrating our grandson's first birthday which will be a great joy but I wish the weather were kinder as it's a long drive with risks of floods.(both from the sea and the sky!)

    1. You are one of many. Since I stopped blogging all my old blogs have had a massive amount of readers, some starting right at the beginning and reading all the way through, I was so surprised ... and then slightly guilty at leaving everyone high and dry after all these years of being in blogland.

The weather has been atrocious hasn't it, as the tornado whipped over the other night I though my roof was about to be whipped off, then with a huge flash of light it quickly passed leaving my roof rattling and a very surprised pussycat roaming the lodge.

How lovely to be celebrating your grandsons first birthday, a magical age. I hope you have a safe drive and a lovely time when you get there. Our great nephew is 4 today and our great grandson is 5 tomorrow ... so many children seem to have birthdays near Christmas don't they.
