It's not been a brilliant week for reading this week, but I have been sitting down each day, when the light allows with a coffee to relax into my current book, which is proving very good. With the grey, rainy days that we have had nearly all week, the light in my small home is terrible and while I have a light behind my chair I really have to be in the mood for reading to read for any length of time under it, and perhaps I just haven't been.
So there has been quite a bit of YouTube watching as well, which can be just as relaxing and usually very interesting if I choose carefully.
This week I have been watching:
Family Freedom ... and their Christmas dinner challenge.
Ben, and the gang at Flawless Cleaning Services
Someone that I found on YouTube quite recently is Kezia at The Whole Home.
Happily, watching her videos reminded me that I still have £100 worth of Riverford Fruit and Veg box vouchers to spend. Definitely something for the New Year to help me keep the food bill costs down.
And of course with the weather being so bad just recently it's been the perfect weather for soup, so Weary Wolf's weekly soup recipes have been lovely to watch. Karl is turning into a really good cook.
And of course I just had to watch Sam Wilder and his seven days of eating just Greggs foods.
What have you been reading or watching this week?
Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Sue xx

That soup looks good I often add red lentils to my carrot coup. Mx
ReplyDeleteIt's such an easy, and nutritious add isn't it. I love red lentils. ♥️
DeleteI usually listen to YouTube whilst ironing intending to watch one thing and then get sidetract by an interesting headline of something that just comes up on my feed!
ReplyDeleteI don't iron, so I'm a lazy oink ... I just sit and watch on the TV. 😄
DeleteThanks for sharing the videos-I have watched the one about Aldi vs M and S so far. I haven’t read my readers’ group book as it was 10 point print and even with my reading light, I could not manage it. I’ll be on the naughty step on Wednesday! Catriona
ReplyDeleteOoh, I hate books with tiny or awkward print these days. Reading should never be a struggle. 🫤
DeleteYou find some beautiful artwork. I love the top photo.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Jenny Colgan's The Secret Christmas Library at the moment. Festive reading is the key to relaxation for the next few weeks :0) although the light is not good for reading at all. It's so dark and dismal.
Stay warm and take care of yourself,
Angie x
I'm on the verge of getting all my Christmas books to hand, ready for December reading. 🎄📚🎄
DeleteSue, I'm sorry you've had a sad week (caught up on your posts). My MIL is in a facility and it is sad to see your loved ones in such a diminished state. I will say that you have shared some interesting YouTube channels! I hope to watch a few of those soon. I am in the opposite season of you right now, as far as reading goes. I have found an author that writes great mysteries and I can't stop reading her books! I do watch tv at night with my husband, so I'm getting both. I hope you feel better this week to come. At least you have some food to choose from :)
ReplyDeleteWe had a much better visit today. Mum actually ate and drank for the first time in a few days. We have to celebrate little wins. ♥️
DeleteI like tiny home videos and recipe ideas. I've recently discovered The Happy Pear channel. I've got their vegan recipe book and it's been great to see the guys behind it.
ReplyDeleteThe Happy Pear twins are great aren't they. I've done all their courses, and am lucky enough to have all their books. I always find their portions are HUGE. 😄
DeleteSame as PP, I love your first image. Briefly I thought I would like it as a jigsaw puzzle but then I came to my senses - all those greys and greens!
ReplyDeleteWhatever you do this weekend, if you can be kind to yourself, you both deserve some relaxation.
Yes, that tree would have a lot of very similar pieces. 😄
DeleteIt's been a better weekend. I've just finished a book that has really helped me.
Your first image is so lovely - a warm welcoming book shop to invite people in from the rain.
ReplyDeleteI wish our town had a bookshop like that. If I were 20 years younger I would be opening one ... with a cafe inside 📚♥️
DeleteWatching the sewing machine, whilst listening to the radio! Mostly BBC Radio 4 Extra, but also got halfway through the Reith Lecture, and need to start again and hear it all!
ReplyDeleteOoh ... multi-tasking, something I used to do well, these days not so well though. 😄
DeleteIm knitting a jumper , free pattern on Ravelry, and it comes with a very useful YouTube video, so I've been back and forth on that quite a bit. My latest batch of library books aren't holding my attention so I've started Sense and Sensibility, a classic that I've read twice before!
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
I've never read S and S, I need to rectify that after Christmas. 🎄
DeleteLove that image - even though I hate the rain, you can't beat a bookshop window!
ReplyDeleteI've been binge-watching The Beast Inside Me on Netflix, a gripping thriller very much inspired by Hitchcock. I've just finished reading The Watchmaker of Dachau and have just started The Narrow Road to the Deep North about Australian POWs working on the Death Railway - I'm a cheerful little soul! xxx
I've just finished Malice, so we have crossed over as I watched The Beast Inside Me last weekend. 😀
DeleteOh gosh, your reading is cheerful isn't it. 😬😟
I'm reading Too Much... currently a David Nichols rom com You Are Here which I'm finding amusing; Michael (experienced walker) is walking the Coast to coast path, Marnie (city girl) has joined him... the other walkers baled out after just a couple of cold wet days.
ReplyDeleteI read on kindle so I can make the font big. The 99p daily deals, are a terrible temptation.
That sounds like a good story. The 99p and free Kindle books are a terrible temptation, I had to stop looking as I have far too many saved already.
DeleteI haven't been reading much, lately, but, I put another book on hold at the library and I think I shall enjoy reading that. Thank you for the video links. I shall watch some of them while I knit (knitting a pair of socks for myself)
ReplyDeleteYou are clever, I could never watch and knit at the same time. 😄
DeleteI finished the novel written by our niece. It is her second book. Started another, but am having a bit of a problem staying awake long enough to get much read. I have been watching Beyond Paradise, and Silent Witness on BritBox while knitting.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Ooh, an author in the family is brilliant, I hope you've all got signed copies.
DeleteI watched the whole of Silent Witness from the very first episode with Amanda Burton, right up to the present day at the end of last year I think it was, it's very good isn't it. And we both love Beyond Paradise, although we are not too keen on Return to Paradise, I think that one is the weakest of the 'Paradises'.
I really love the excellent artwork you find to accompany your post Sue - always so apt and they make me smaile :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad. 😀 There's some wonderful things to find. ♥️
