Well Knickers to That!!

All of a sudden lots of my knickers have been getting holes in them, and one by one have been put into the bin instead of the washing basket after a day's wear.  After I had gotten down to just four pairs, rather than the initial twelve that I had, it was time to order some more.

I used to always by my Sloggis from Debenhams, but now that is no more, both last time and this I have had to buy via Amazon.  It's never my first choice if I can help it, but sometimes needs must and when I went down to just three pairs left, next day delivery was suddenly very appealing.

I was shocked to find that Sloggis are now £25 for three pairs, it doesn't seem horrendous until you put four boxes of three into your basket and suddenly it's £100.  For some reason I got a £5 reduction which took it to £95.  While I was ordering I checked the date of the last time I ordered them and it turns out it was August 2022.

So, overall I think that almost three years worth of wear for £95 is a good price.  I could work out how much per wear they have cost me ... but I won't my brain has gone to sleep.  😄

Pare down yes ... but always have enough knickers.  😁

  1. Sainsbury’s tu knickers are excellent quality and a good fit

    1. That might be an option in three years time when my new Sloggis wear out. I wonder if Sainsbury's last as long though? I'd have to order online though, our Sainsbury's doesn't sell any clothes etc.

  2. I bought lazy panda bamboo knitters from sock shop last year as my ancient m and s ones were worn out. They're lovely and comfortable.

    1. They sound good, you'll have to keep tabs on how long they last you. 😀

  3. That's 10p a day. I'm currently in the Primark ones recommended by my daughter. Proving very comfortable.

    1. Yes, you made me do the maths, with Alan's help. 😄 We get it to just under 9p a wear, so you're pretty close. It would be interesting to do a price per wear comparison with your Primarks, once they wear out if course. 😃

    1. It really had, quite a few years ago too. That's when I discovered Sloggis and switched allegiance.

  6. Being down to 3 or 4 pairs of undies is quite low. That would be a bit too minimal for me! I'm glad you bought a few more. :)

    1. I would never stay at that number for long. Having twelve pairs means that I have an almost two weeks supply and they are all worn on rotation so they get equal wear, hence them lasting so long. I'm glad I'm back to full numbers. :-)

  7. I always used to buy Sloggi knickers until Debenhams went down and luckily I still have a couple of boxes of them tucked away. They do last for years, don't they, but at the new price they are too much for me. My daughter bought me a pack of M & S knickers with a stretchy lace top which cost £10 for 5 and they are very comfortable. I've since bought another pack and will see how long they last. I only do a light coloured wash once a week so need at least 10 pairs to be on the safe side! ;0)

    1. Virtually all my underwear is black, so I am able to throw them in any coloured wash, even in with new jeans without fear of dyes running. My pale pink bras, bought to wear under Summer tops, never stay pale pink for long, thanks to my 'chuck it all in' system. ;-)

  8. I wear 5 pack M&S knickers and have one pack on the go with a spare pack in the drawer. They are comfy, nice colours and seem to last well. I think they are good value for money and leave no vpl. Regards Sue H

    1. I guess it works in the same way, but one pack of five will wear out quicker than if both packs of five were worn in equal rotation, and then you will have to get your next pack on the go. But I guess it's always nice to know that you have some nice new ones in the drawer.

  9. First time commenting to say that I've recently ordered from Debenhams online (www.debenhams.com). Might be helpful for any future orders 😊. My name is Sue too!

    1. I think it works out well. I'm just hoping that this new set of twelve lasts as long as the two previous sets did.

  11. I found 2 packs of 6 pairs of M&S white cotton pants labelled £4 in the old chest of drawers. They are better quality than the newer ones, and they are my size again. I found plain dark cotton socks too, bought to wear with my uniform. I have been retired more than ten years.

    1. Wow, they must have been there for a while at that price. I still wear short black socks too after having to wear them for work for so long, it's just a habit now.
