It's hard to believe that all this fitted in the one drawer ... but it did.
Some things get used over and over again, and some things are simply moved out of the way over and over again. I am one person and one person does not need three frying pans. I chose the two that I actually use often, and it turned out that the one that's leaving home came 'free' with my oven and hob when I had the kitchen fitted, and it's just too big and quite heavy. So, even though it's new I forgive myself for it having to go, as it's not something I went out and chose to buy.
Of everything here, two pans are going, the steamer and the large tin of cookie/pasty cutters. They are all listed as a job lot on Facebook Marketplace.
It's very satisfying to have a good tidy and to clear out the unnecessary clutter. Xx
ReplyDeleteIt really is, and now whenever I go in the drawer to get something I barely have to move anything out of the way.
DeleteThe pan drawer in my new kitchen is smaller than before, so reducing equipment was essential. And I haven't missed those pans at all [yet!]
ReplyDeleteIt's a good feeling having less and yet being able to manage just as well isn't it. :-)
DeleteI have some hefty iron le creuset pans which are far too large and heavy for me now... long past time to hand them on. One day...
ReplyDeleteI sold off all my ironware Le Creuset casserole pots, starting with the largest and then moving down in weight order, now just having the stainless steel one, which was always the one used the most is perfect.
DeleteYour pan drawer looks great! I need to sort through my pots and pans, too, if only to make room for the cookware that my daughter will be bringing home when she moves back at the end of the summer!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I would hate for anyone to suddenly give me lots more things to add to the drawer. Nothing extra is going back in my now spacious space. :-)
DeleteYou have made me feel guilty. My top pan drawer under the oven is fine but the bottom one is a glory hole full of way too much "stuff" most of which I never use. As soon as I have finished my second cup of coffee I am off to declutter that drawer. Thank you. Regards Sue H
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I have pushed you into sorting mode ... I hope it goes well. ;-)
DeleteOh, that 'after' picture is a delight, soothing to the soul.
ReplyDeleteI am slowly, quietly, trying to do very similar things. Difficult when the other person here is becoming more of a hoarder as they become older . . .
(although thanks to Sue H, I am going to attack the dust-collecting cavity at the bottom of the oven . . .)
It is soothing isn't it ... I might have opened it once or twice just to look at the space. ;-)
DeleteI have a tiny drawer under the oven, I need to have a peek in that and see what can go ... once I've done my bottom drawer of course!!
Very satisfying. Someone will appreciate the good frying pan. I would put a small cloth under the cutters and things so they don’t cause scratches. I keep a stoneware pot of cut up cotton socks and T-shirts for useful cloths.
ReplyDeleteThey have never caused any scratches and they have lived in there for years, I put them in and get them out carefully. I hate putting things on top of cloths or trays, it's something my Mum was over zealous about. Everything had to be stood on something before she was satisfied, which made wiping surfaces in her kitchen a laborious job.
DeleteWhen we moved recently we packed up our pans and some that belonged to my Mum, some that belonged to m in law ........ we arrived to a drawer full of lovely pans that the previous owners had kindly left behind....... I now need to sort my favourites and charity shop the rest!

It sounds like you have a LOT of pans to go through. :-)
DeleteMy pan cupboard has far too much paraphernalia in it. When we finally move I will have 'appropriate' cupboards for all my cooking items. Our current kitchen was already here when we moved in a good few years ago, and it has never really been fit for purpose.
ReplyDeleteI think that cupboards can end up holding far too much unseen stuff, I really appreciate that when I designed my kitchen I asked for drawers instead of cupboards. The cupboards that I had to have, because of having pipes etc in them, are the spaces that get the most cluttered the fastest. It will be nice for you to get the space that you want eventually.
