They drove me all the way to Wales*.
I didn't like it so I yowled all the way, it was hard keeping it up for two hours ... but I managed it.
They let me out to play in what appeared to be a hayfield of tickly proportions.
But I suspected they were going to load me into that basket again, so I needed to go and have a drink to lubricate my vocal cords for the return journey.
It's a Cat's Life. 😺

* We needed to go to the Welsh flat which we have not been able to sell due to lease problems, and so we were getting it ready for renting it out again, happily after a nice twist of fate, to the son of the lady that lives in the upper flat. Ginger came with us, we thought he would sleep for the journey ... he didn't. We were all glad to get home!!

Oh, poor Ginger! A whole two hour journey, each way?! I'm Dancer, Bless' kitty, and I yowl all the way to the vet's clinic and back, and that's only a 15 minute drive, each way. At least you got to have a nap in the shade.
ReplyDeleteWhen we moved house from Wales, another two hour journey, he escaped from his cat carrier and sat happily in the back seat of Alan's truck on top of a pile of boxes all the way to our new home, so I do think it's just his cat carrier that he hates. But it isn't safe to travel with a loose cat really.
DeleteIsn't it funny that cats don't like car journeys but dogs never seem to mind and lay down and sleep.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nuisance that you can't sell the flat but it's good that you have a new tenant.
We honestly thought he would curl up and go to sleep as he spends most of each day asleep these days. We can't afford to leave it empty any longer so it has to earn it's keep. Gareth, the new tenant has also expressed an interest in buying it in a few years, so that would work well for all of us. He needs a ground floor flat as he has a disabled son and happily the doors to the flat are wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair.
DeleteA displeased cat can keep it up for hours! When we moved from Yorkshire to Cambridgeshire our cat yowled for 24 hours non stop... in the car, overnight in the the flat we stayed in, all day shut in the spare room of the new house while the movers did their stuff... luckily she approved of the new house and settled down quickly!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I cannot imagine the stress that caused you all. Luckily Ginger only yowls in the cage, once out he's happy again. He will not be coming on holiday with us ever again!!
DeleteOur ginger had other means of showing her displeasure on the ten minute drive to the vets, from every orifice.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, that's even worse. :-(
DeleteTravelling far in this weather is neither comfortable for people nor pets....you must all be glad to be home. Good you have found a new tenant
ReplyDeleteWe had to take it in turns at the services to go and have a ten minute break and grab a coffee to settle our nerves from the constant yowling, as we needed to leave the engine running to keep the air con working for him. It was beautifully cool in the car ... just very yowly!!
DeleteBless him, we can never predict what a puss will do. We're contemplating maybe taking ours on holiday in September. Big decision.
ReplyDeleteCats are a law unto themselves aren't they. Ginger has been away with us twice, once last year with us and the dogs and once this year, and then this trip to the flat in Wales. He is not getting used to it at all, although he's great when we arrive and is quite happy to spend a day getting used to a new place and then going out to explore.
DeleteOur dear old cat hated the car and would howl all the way and back again for any journey! Ginger looks very, very cross in the first picture.😾 Regards Sue H
ReplyDeleteHe really didn't like the long grass, but he seemed to get used to it by the next day, and then he was totally flummoxed when it all disappeared. We do like to keep him on his toes. :-)
DeleteDo you think maybe a sheet over his carrier would help? It's supposed to work for birds!
ReplyDeleteWe tried him with his carrier both covered and uncovered, if anything when he was covered up he was louder and actually sounded really scared!!
