24th Aldi - £19.88
I didn't really need anything but on the way back from somewhere else Alan suggested calling into Aldi for the few bits he needed, so of course I volunteered to come in and push his trolley for him. 😁
A few cool salady bits, some ready cooked salmon ... gosh what a splurge ... and some ice-lollies. Also they finally had Gingers favourite Tasty Licks in, these are really good for hiding his thyroid medication in twice a day, luckily he is addicted to them.
As we shared a trolley, we also shared the receipt, my things are in the box.
24th Barton Grange Garden Centre - £3.29
So that's where we were on our way back from before the Aldi shop.
These buns are a bit expensive but they are delicious, and they make a nice treat every now and then.
27th Aldi - £17.85
I may have splurged on some more salmon, this shop seems to be a bit fishy and winey, perfect for the hot weather.
The receipt for posterity.
I had planned to write this post today, but after reading Sue's blog first thing this morning, I thought I would also add up everything that I had spent this month on food for myself. Seemingly it has been a grand total of £113.39.
All these little shopping trips really do add up don't they, especially when I keep buying fish and wine. But I guess life's little pleasures are never to be sniffed at, if you can afford them. 😄
The little laughing face is there because the cash is quickly running out on the bungalow renovations, so I might have to tighten the belt a little bit over the next few months.
Sue xx
An occasional treat is good for the spirits.
ReplyDeleteI joked that I would have to economise on food as we have an unp[anned roof job going on. It's necessary if we don't want the roof to fall in.
Gosh yes treats are much needed at the moment. Some jobs really just have to be done no matter how the finances are don't they, and roofs are pretty important ... lol. ;-)
DeleteDelicious choices! Many times I get carried away and go completely off my shopping list at the supermarket. I go in to buy one thing and end up coming home with all sorts of delicious treats instead... Then, at the end of the month, you wonder, "Where did all the money go?" Well... the supermarket, of course!
ReplyDeleteIt's been good keeping my totals on here, and having the photos to show what I am buying the most of. I do seem to be buying the same few things over and over just recently. They must be my 'comfort foods'.
DeleteYou are certainly frugal!
ReplyDeleteI try to be, I only need what I need. I might like the idea of some things, but if I don't need them I have now stopped being tempted. But I do allow myself treats in amongst all this. Life is hard at the moment.
Deletewhat's a missing door here and there? LOL.
ReplyDeleteYeah ... who needs internal doors, we do however have to budget for a floor. ;-)
DeleteA treat now and again is good for the spirit!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh yes, it makes life feel tolerable when all around you is collapsing.
DeleteTreats are essential for your well-being, and should be enjoyed without guilt. Catriona
ReplyDeleteI'm never guilty, if I ever imply I am ... it's all talk. :-)
DeleteThe cooked salmon is a great idea in the summer, saves heating your own kitchen up.
ReplyDeleteAldi’s prices, still seem the best.
Alison in Devon x
I didn't even think of that, I was just being lazy. :-)
DeleteThe prices do seem the best don't they, some things have even gone down in price again.
Treats are definitely a "need" at certain times in our lives. £113.39 seems like a reasonable amount to spend on groceries for a month for one person. It comes out to US$150.33 at today's rate of conversion. I budget $125 per person for groceries (food only) per person for myself and my adult daughter, so $250 per month for the two of us. I went over the budget in May, but, I came under budget in June. :)
ReplyDeleteComing in under budget always feels like such a win doesn't it. 😀
