One Day It Will Be a Bedroom

One day I may just have a bedroom like this.

I do have a bit of hope, as up until Thursday of this week the windows of my bedroom were boarded up.

And now I have windows.

I didn't think I would be so excited about a bedroom window.  😁

Or a bathroom one.

It's made the world of difference to the bungalow,  instead of dark gloomy rooms and builders lamps, there's light so that everyone can actually see what they are doing.

Alan's first job at the start of next week is to start to move the stack of plasterboards that were left in the exact place where he has to start building the wall for the bathroom ... that was really handy wasn't it.  😐

Yesterday was a really good day in the bungalow, the windows went in, the solar installation was finished, the gas board came to cap off the gas pipe in the pavement off our property, and the plumber called to discuss the first round of work he needs to do, including putting in a stopcock under where the kitchen sink will be.

Yes, one day soon I will also have a kitchen.  😀

  1. Progress :) Love that bedroom - what fun buying the pictures for the wall would be too. The kitchen has lots of storage too. You'll have to be patient though and poor Alan, having to move all that plasterboard. It's often the same on an Archaeology site - put the spoil heap at A and dang it, you find you need to extend the trench underneath it!!

    1. Happily I already have enough pictures to be able to do that. I have been looking at them through fresh eyes this week , it should work well. 😀

Alan is getting very fit with all this lifting and shifting, but he looks forward to the weekends. It's like he never retired. 😄

  2. I like that you have a window in your bathroom. The main reason we don’t have an en suite is that a window couldn’t be put in. We just have a windowless shower room with a door from the hall. The builder and I had many robust discussions about it during the renovations 20 years ago! Catriona

    1. Aww, that was a shame. I don't like bathrooms without windows, although sometimes there's just no choice is there. I worked out where the bathrooms could go to make use of existing windows, and then the builders reduced the openings.

  3. The stuff that dreams are made of! Then one day they won’t be dreams anymore but real life areas to enjoy- and dream in!

  4. I do like that kitchen table... I'm hoping for something like that in our extension.
My ideal bedroom has a comfortable chair by the window to sit and read if I want, and a little desk for writing letters etc. And a clear bedside table (ha ha) and a posy vase of fresh flowers. Not possible here!

    1. I don't like it, happily it's just the kitchen designers computer generated picture of my design. I have found a perfect table for us though. I will be having a chair on the window side of my bed for reading and television watching. 😀

    1. Definitely, it may be a small bungalow, but one day it will be perfectly formed. 😁

  10. The bedroom in the photo looks amazing, I really love it. It's a pity that my bedroom is about half the size though or I could steal a few ideas! AND the windows look great. Light at last!

    1. If you look carefully at the image it's not really that big, just well organised. Of course there could be ten feet behind the camera we don't know. 😄

    1. We are now hoping that we might be able to get into the new bungalow before Christmas rather than after it. Fingers crossed. :-)

  13. Oh, that bedroom is dreamy! I would love to steal that collage wall idea for my living room. Different frames, different art, all jumbled together. Love it.

    1. It's definitely an idea I'm copying, it's the only way that I can fit all my pictures into the room in a sensible way. 😄

  14. When we were first married, our first bed was a family heirloom, double-sized bed that was wrot iron (similar to the one you shared.) It was "cozy" back then. Now we prefer a queen or king size. (King on vacation in motels as our bedroom isn't big enough for one.) I love the photo of that room, but we sleep in the basement where it's dark and cool and only use the room for sleeping and getting dressed. There is not really a need to decorate it much. And we only have guest (family) once a year, so the guest rooms are decorated with family photos.
Also, love the kitchen photo. Very clean and modern and somehow very "English" to me.

    1. Yes, we both want the main room to be quite modern, clean and not at all cluttered. So that gives me 'permission' to go mad decorating the bedroom. 😄

  16. That bedroom is very much my cup of tea (although I'd have to change those white walls - bit too hospitally for my liking!) xxx

    1. I'm determined not to have white walls in my room, I'm thinking green ... I bet that surprises no-one. 😁
