This was the state of play yesterday when I went round to the bungalow to do a pre-plastering walk through ... today this has changed already.
I can hardly keep up at the moment, the three plasterers, a grandad, dad and son work together so well and so speedily, they are a sight to behold. How they have worked so well in this heat is beyond me ... however when we went round a couple of hours ago they were all topless!!
Hopefully the plastering will all be finished next week, at the speed they are working at perhaps even halfway through the week and I can do another walk through.
Today we were actually sat in Booths ... where is was SO much cooler than home ... with a coffee and a cold drink each, designing the front garden and the off road parking area. It won't be done for a while but Alan needed to know what stones to save before putting the rest in the skip and sending it away.
Exciting stuff, well it is to us, I do hope that you are enjoying the updates too. 😃

DeleteExciting stuff indeed, Sue, and thank you for sharing the journey with us. It's all looking fabulous. I'm amazed how much has been done to the bungalow in all this heat. It's 30C inside our bungalow today so we spent 2 hours at lunchtime in the village air conditioned pub sipping shandy and ice cold water and chatting to people :) Now we have our new mobile air con unit whirring away in the lounge ready for a bit of TV viewing later on. It's absolute bliss.

It was much cooler in the bungalow than it was back at home, so the insulated walls are proving effective at keeping the heat out. I could definitely have done with your air-con unit in the annexe yesterday. 🥵

ReplyDeleteIt was a relief to peel the protective film off the window frames after the rendering was finished. It was the first time we had seen the full look that I had had in my head. Alan is very pleased. 🖤🩶

ReplyDeleteIt nearly is, the only original things will be some of the exterior walls, the roof, my sink, the outside steps and the low wall around the front garden flowerbed. Oh, and the door hatch to the loft. 😄

ReplyDeleteI know you have all the bells and buzzers for keeping the house warm in winter and cheap to heat, but have you got air conditioning for when it's as hot as it's been this past week?

DeleteWe are waiting to see if we will need to purchase a air-con unit like Angie's, but all through last week with temperatures over 32 degrees outside, the added interior insulation kept the bungalow a good 8 degrees cooler inside, and that's without curtains to pull over all the large windows. 😎
It's looking fantastic now...after all those cold days in the past where it was a real act of faith to see past the chaos.

DeleteIt is looking good. A few well placed handrails wherever there is a step might be an idea. Mum had them fitted after her fall, before would have been better. I was tempted to put rubber matting down too, but she could trip over a shadow, and bruised a lot.
ReplyDeleteWe will be installing handrails once the final steps are in place. There's no point until we know the final width of the steps though.
