Bungalow Progress ... All Mod Cons

I've not been on my computer since last Sunday, so I apologise for a complete absence of blog posts.  I tend to post a couple of days in advance and set to automatically publish, hence there being a couple of posts last week.  I was sent to hospital in the early hours of Monday morning and spent all night in A&E before being kept on the Urgent Care ward all day Tuesday.  Things are slowly getting back to normal, so there's no need to worry.

Anyway I thought I would do a little update of the bungalow progress.  We are having a little breather between builders etc while Alan gets on with some labouring and they work on another job that is much more urgent.

As you can see from the top photo, the garage has now been rebuilt and has walls, a roof and a door and a window.  There's still a bit of work to be done, but it's nice to see it up instead of us just having a hole in the ground.

Our mod cons consist of running water from the outside tap.

And toilet facilities in the front garden.  Of course we also have a bank of five electric sockets in the old hallway so that lights, tools and kettles can be plugged in.

On the downside, thanks to Alan's hard work, we no have virtually no floors.

Oh well, one day we will live there.

Sue xx

  1. Oh My Goodness - A&E and Urgent care all sounds very frightening. So I hope you really are OK with nothing to worry about.

  6. Oh heavens.... A & E and Urgent Care sounds serious. I do hope you are on the mend from whatever it was, Sue. Thank you for sharing your bungalow update. The garage ( and Alan! ) are looking good. Those toilet facilities strike fear into my heart though ....aaarrgh.

  8. I'm sorry to hear about the hospital! I hope all is well now! (Be glad you're in the UK -- in the states, a trip to the hospital would certainly have exploded your small budget!)

  10. I was wondering where you had got to, but a stay on hospital wasn't the first thing that came to my mind! Hope you are feeling much better now. The bungalow will no doubt get worse before it gets better, just keep thinking of the end result. Take care.

  19. Sorry about the A&E visit Sue, most upsetting. I hope it is nothing that has long lasting effects. On the bright side your home is getting nearer, very exciting.

  22. Golly, you do live an exciting life!! NOT in the best way though. I hope the hospital really got to the bottom of your problem and the treatment is effective, and especially I'm hoping you're not in pain, and following Drs orders! (That was a a series of Yeses I heard, wasn't it!)New Zealand's hospitals, and medical care generally, is overstretched, but, in my experience (which I'd much rather not have had), it works very well in an emergency. I hope yours does too. XX Don't overdo it.
