Now that I've virtually finished all the vegetables in the fridge drawer ... just five of the 9p Christmas potatoes and a cabbage left ... I thought it was time to cash in my competition prize from last year. See HERE.
I enjoyed browsing the website and then picking which of the organic boxes that I fancied, and in the end I decided on the small seasonal fruit and veg box which seemingly is enough for two to three people, as an extra I added as organic salad bag. I have opted for fortnightly deliveries to start me off and I will share some things with Alan.
My prize will cover the cost of over three deliveries of the size of boxes that I have chosen, and will see me nicely through to the end of February. Which is going to be very helpful while my budget is so low. Sadly, I don't think it qualifies me for the current promotional offer which is to get a lovely hardback book with your first order for all new customers. I should have thought on my feet and had a paid for order first and then used my prize vouchers.
But I have now got a Refer a Friend code to give to family and friends. This will give me a bonus of £15 to my account and also give anyone who takes it up £15 off their second order.
My code is : www.riverford.co.uk/refer/6itkSKBZfVX_et22tQqIPQ
It's available for anyone in the UK to use as long as Riverford deliver to your area. You should also qualify for the free cookbook if you enter the cookbook code on your order.
Visit the Riverford website for all the information you need, it all makes for fascinating reading anyway, even if you don't decide to sign up. What a brilliant company they seem to be.
Riverford Organic Farmers - Organic Fruit & Veg Box Delivery
My first delivery will be on Wednesday of this week, I look forward to seeing it and letting you know how it is.
Sue xx

Look forward to seeing pictures of that box when it arrives, x
ReplyDeleteand I checked, not really surprised but they do not deliver here 😟
DeleteYou just know that I will be showing you don't you. ;-)
DeleteAw, what a shame, but I think we are quite near the end of their reach as they are very environmentally friendly.
DeleteI'll check out the site....
ReplyDeleteThere is lots of good reading (and watching) on there, I found it all very reassuring.
DeleteI think - not 100% sure- that there is a book about the start up of their business and the family.
ReplyDeleteI've often looked at their website and thought about ordering a boxful but too many potatoes!
I think you're right, I will have to look out for it, but their history is pretty much all on the website, along with videos of their founder Guy Singh-Watson. It's now a 100% employee owned company seemingly.
DeleteYou can ask for things not to be included either occasionally or forever, for instance I have chosen never to have avocados or mushrooms ... Alan can buy his own mushrooms from Aldi. :-)
Looking forward to seeing the boxes. We went to River Cottage restaurant once or twice for lunch when Norrie was down ordering things at Axminster Tools and we were on holiday. Don’t know if it’s still there as we the internet means all items are now ordered from home. Catriona
ReplyDeleteYes we have been to the River Cottage Restaurant, or The Canteen as it was known back then in Axminster a couple of times. Usually when we were visiting River Cottage itself and staying nearby. The food was always amazing.
DeleteIt is a very useful prize 😀
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your orders come through
Alison in Devon x
I was amazed when I won it, it's been a long time since I won anything.
DeleteWhat a fantastic prize! I've got one of their cookbooks (chazza shop, obvs) ad it really is lovely. We used to have Abel and Cole boxes but, along with The Guardian, it wsa on eof those expenses that gor trimmed when I became self-employed! I loved all the heritage varieties ! xxx
ReplyDeleteSometimes you have to trim expenses don't you. I was weighing up the differences between Abel and Cole and Riverford before I won the prize ... but then it was sort of decided for me wasn't it. I do love both their ethos' though and their prices are very similar.
DeleteA very nice prize. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to it arriving later today. 😀
DeleteWhat a lovely prize to have! I’ve used Riverford since the early 90’s- I bought a flat and had a leaflet through the door. Back then the boxes turned up with as much mud as veg! I can remember bashing clods of red Devon earth off before even attempting to wash them! Over the years they have become much more efficient at washing produce of the worst and the boxes now arrive needing little more than a brush off of something’s. I met Guy once and was so in awe of him I babbled like an absolute wally, I hope he read between the lines of my waffle that I thought he was amazing and that he had fed me and my now family since I was quite young!
ReplyDeleteYou will adore having fresh and colourful vegetables, I look forward to seeing the rainbow of meals you will be hopefully taking snaps of! All fan girling aside- the company is run in probably the best and fairest way now, many companies could take a leaf from their book. Guy writes a little newsletter for each box and it’s always thought provoking and interesting. I would love to see him in charge of food for the nation! I’ll stop waffling ha, I really am a huge fan of Riverford and always will be. Even when we have grown a lot they have still delivered as I moved from a box to selecting individual things. I’ve not been able to grow much recently so went back to the boxes plus we also have two recipe boxes a week as they are a god send when I’m done in from work and running this place. Enjoy! Danette
Now you've just made me look forward to my delivery even more. Thank you for this lovely comment. ❤️
DeleteEnjoy your prize and the help it will give you over the next month with the budget.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
It really will won't it. 😀
DeleteThanks for letting us know the code. I will be interested to see what you think of your first delivery.
ReplyDeleteI'll be trying everything once I'm eating again. I'll let you know.
DeleteI'm not in the UK but I have visited the Riverford Field Kitchen and farm. What a great place. I'm looking forward to seeing what is in the veg box.
ReplyDeleteI bet that was an amazing visit. 😀
