I've been a pretty regular Blogger for over seventeen years now, but unlike some bloggers I have never felt the urge to move myself over to YouTube. It's a completely different medium and while I am happy with the written word, I am less so with filming my day to day. So blogging suits me so much better.
I have used YouTube for my own devices when I have wanted to show something in a film format for my blog, but that is the extent of my involvement.
I am, however, a regular viewer, indeed some evenings I prefer to watch some of my favourite YouTubers on my television while I relax. Television is not always that great these days, although of course we should have some good Christmassy content coming up, and sometimes it's nice to dip into lots of little fifteen or thirty minutes bits of entertainment if you have something else on the go, rather than commit to a full length film.
While I am not all that mathematical I do enjoy a good statistic every now and then, so it was interesting when I went on my YouTube page on the computer and found that this year there is a 2025 recap of what my most watched channels were. The are not what I expected, but that's maybe because I tend to watch a lot of one thing and then move over onto a different channel and binge watch their content.
It will be interesting to compare this years viewing figures with those at the end of next year, so I have decided to share some of the information screens on this Blogmas post so that I have a record of them.
And that is the beauty of blogging ... I have all my history at my fingertips. π

I love Jude too. It reminds me of our trials when we had our cottage in Scotland. I tend to dart around in YouTube depending on what shows up on the app for the day. I agree can be better than the TV. I always listen when I am ironing to anything that doesn't require me to watch the screen. It can be very educational. I believe Ali and Sadie are doing very well switching to vlogging.
ReplyDeleteJude's channel grew so quickly didn't it. From zero to over 160k subscribers in a year. He deserves all the success. ♥️
DeleteI love Jude too, I was hooked from the 2nd video and was surprised to see how many views and subscribers he had on an account that was only 2 weeks old. I later realised that he brought a LOT of his followers over from his yarn dyeing business youtube videos (stranded dyeworks) and his instagram account (strandeddyeworks) and as he'd closed his business and said that he was re-locating a lot of yarn followers found him again and picked up the story where he left off.
DeleteThe first couple of thousand followed him over, but all the rest have joined since. π
DeleteI tend to clear my viewing history from time to time, but, I do have a few vlogs I watch on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteI've never thought to clear my viewing history, perhaps if I had these statistics would be very different. π€
DeleteI have followed Ali for years on her blog and now enjoy her utube channel too. Will have a look at the others too. Catriona
ReplyDeleteYes, I've been blogging buddies with Ali since we both started. I don't always watch her on YouTube, but I try to every now and then. π
DeleteI was a bit sad when Ali switched to YouTube, but do get why she would.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the written word on the whole, good thing we're all different - makes the world go round π

It was a shame when she stopped blogging wasn't it. π«€
DeleteI use youtube when I'm knitting. I like to multitaskπ I mainly watch Timeteam and any historical stuff concerning Castles and Palaces.
ReplyDeleteMy big indulgence though is Audible. I get through loads of books. Lots of stuff is free too. TV for me is probably between one and two hours in an evening.
I'm too much of a sensitive flower to write a blog. I'd take everything personally. And be upset by it.
Love reading your blog, Sue!
I've moved away from multitasking now, I like to concentrate on one thing at a time, it really helps my stress levels. I can't just sit and listen to things though so Audible is a no for me. I much prefer to hold a book. π
DeleteBlogging can be a good way of keeping a diary, but mine is too random for that.
ReplyDeleteMine is here, there and everywhere too. π But tucked into the days are all the milestones, and they are easily found if I need to check on something.
DeleteI, too, really appreciate my blog for being a way I keep track of things. I'm glad that I write it for that reason though I've not been so diligent in recent times!
ReplyDeleteI think we all need a blogging break from time to time. π
DeleteI have been told that I should do YouTube, but I really prefer to stay with just blogging. I do know a few people that do both, but man that would take up a great deal of time.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
YouTube especially can be very time consuming, so I do understand the people that just sit and chat to their camera or phone, as it needs little to no editing. But I find being talked at quite boring, so I prefer the better made more variable content. But that must take a lot of time, and more skill to achieve.
DeleteWe watch more Youtube than normal telly now. I learn so much it is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt's just so varied isn't it. π
